Suites at AOA vs suites at ASMu

I'm looking into booking a last min trip at the end of August. On previous trips we've stayed in POR in 2 connecting rooms, AOA family suite and CBR 2 connecting rooms. While our family of 5 can technically fit in 1 room with pull downs we've been spoiled with a little more space and 2 bathrooms (a 14 year old girl and a 12 year old girl make this important).

When I price them out ASMu is $775 less for the 9 night stay than AOA. Is the difference in resorts so much that I'll regret choosing it? We are afternoon break people and like a good swim. We'll have no all resort days but may have a half day here and there for just the resort. We usually eat breakfast at the resort but not in our room. My husband loved AOA but the price difference is making it a little easier on my conscience that I haven't saved up for this trip like I usually do.

We have stayed at AOA and All Star Music suites. While everyone enjoyed both, my granddaughters do prefer AOA. This year I too was trying to cut the budget so I was considering All Star Music suites but decided for two rooms at Pop so they can still walk over to AOA and enjoy the resort.
They don't know but I am surprising them with 3 nights at CR after our 6 nights at Pop.

We've never stayed at AOA. We stayed in an ASMusic family suite in 2014 for 11 nights. I will admit, the room was showing its age--perhaps there have been renovations since then. Also, while we were there, the food court was closed for a complete renovation, so that's now fairly new.

We really enjoyed our suite, though. One nice perk over AOA is that there are three separate sleeping units in the living room--a pullout double bed, plus the chair and ottoman that each turn into a little bed. This is nice if you have three kids who don't want to share a bed.

The separate sleeping units is definitely in the plus column for ASMu. My girls HATE sharing and they always have to while my son always gets to sleep by himself, lol

We prefer ASMu because:

Two full closets next to the sink vs AoA has a little locker in the living room, so lots more storage
Full separate kitchette with cabinets, big sink and lots of storage if you really want to cook basic food or make sandwiches vs. AoA has a small kitchenette in the living room.
Bigger living room with TONS of room to spread out vs. AoA with a separate dining room which cuts the living room size down
Less rooms so less people waiting for the bus (All Stars only share during slow times, so don't take that as gospel)

With AoA the advantages we see are:
3 separate sleeping rooms if kids don't want to be in the same room
Cool pools
Real size dining table vs. the little 2 seater at ASMu

You know, for the same price, you could also usually get a cabin with a discount. Lots more to do at the Fort, full kitchen, boat to MK, fireworks on the beach. Just sayin....

I've looked into the cabins also, for our time period they're still about $450 more. We have visited FW a few times and my husband isn't a fan of the vibe there at all.

Good to know about the extra storage and larger kitchenette. Wasn't a fan of the small kitchenette at AoA. We don't eat much in the room but we all have different tastes so we needed room for a lot of different foods.

Exactly! That is why we chose ASMU suites, so all three kids can have their own beds. Plus, I stayed there 20 years ago with my parents, and now taking my family ( the kids first time) to WDW!! We frequent Disneyland, so we are excited about this trip!!

I've never stayed at AoA but I would not hesitate to stay at an ASMu suite again. I agree with PPs about the different sleeping surfaces. The only thing about ASMu is the table only seats two, but if you're not going to eat in your room, it wont matter. Both the pools at ASMu were nice and the food court had plenty of options. Plus if you stay in a suite it's in the "preferred" area so you won't have to walk far.

Either choice, enjoy your trip!

Thanks you guys! You've helped ease any reservations that I have about it. I think we'll go with ASMu.
