Any former CPs that would like to give us hopefuls any idea of stuff to bring that we might not think of?

A Basic "Extras" list for me (besides the usual clothes, shoes, cleaning supplies, etc)

-Toaster
-Matress Pad
-Cupcake Pans
-Water Filter
-Fan/AC

any other things i should consider adding?

i also brought with me a shower caddie & and an over the door shoe organizer. both came in handy and helped keep the room clean and organized.

I also got a white dry erase board/ or you can get a bulletin board. to put your schedule on and other important stuff.

both of those things were on my original list but obviously i forgot about them! thanks :) im going to write them down right now so i dont forget agaiN! lol

Ditto to what's already been said. I would also add an umbrella, cake/brownie pans, water filter (tap water in FL is nasty!), and bath mats. That's all I remember.

If you have trouble sleeping or need a super comfy bed, you will definitely want to buy a mattress pad because the mattresses they provide are really loud, and not comfy at all.

Also, I always packed too many clothes. Remember, if you're flying, you're going to want room to bring things back home too. :) Happy packing!

If you plan on cooking, get some decent knives from Wal-Mart or Target. And Tupperware is always a good idea if you want to bring lunch to work.

agree

I ended up picking up a coffee pot, knifes (there was ONE non-butter knife in my apartment. Not convenient when you're making chicken and salad for dinner), a bathmat (I lived in Patterson and the tub was deep, a towel on the floor would go sliding. Something non-slip is a good idea) and tupperware (I always brought my lunch)

The other thing was a small cheap bookshelf from Target - we had a wii and other random stuff so it kept the living room organized. I want to say it was like $20 and well worth it.

You are NOT allowed to bring any knives into your apt. , even for cooking. They will confiscate them. If you do bring a knife, there is an amnesty day, when you can turn it in and it will be sent home. Some CP's would get knives at Walmart and then keep them locked in their lockers when they are not using them but if let out or in a kitchen drawer when there is an inspection you are screwed. So the general feeling was, the CP's just dealt with the knives Disney provided.

Order online...bed risers from Walmart and do a ship to store order. Actually, if you are flying in...ship to store option is great, for risers, mattress pad etc. Pack some extra hangers because walmart will run out in the weeks following a mass CP arrival and you will need hangers.

really can't buy a knife? we had them and never kept them locked up. they just said not to bring pepper spray and no lighsabers.... *shrugs*

HANGERS! Walmart by the apts pretty much run out of everything on those big arrival days.but there is a Target and another Walmart near by :)

Yes!! Definitely hangers. You'll notice that all of the things on your list (mattress pads, coffee makers, hangers, etc) will be completely gone when you get to Walmart if you don't go right away. Lots of CPs gettin there at the same time :)

I'm not sure if someone has said this already, but posts for your bed. Really good idea for storage! Their beds are really low...

A lot of people have brought kitchen knives, they're allowed. E-mail housing first though if you're not sure. And as for the water filter it may be useless, even if it cleans florida water nothing can change the taste, lol. Buying Gallons at walmart may be your best bet.

why subtract the fan? i can just add another matress pad. lol

The air conditioner is on 24/7 in the apartments. If you're hot just turn the air up. I don't ever remember being warm in my apartment.

Well, maybe once when these girls turned our heat on to 80 something degrees as a joke, and no one noticed until morning.

I brought a mattress pad and used it for two nights and realized i needed another. I went to walmart and picked one up. So i had two on my bed throughout my program. Those beds are uncomfortable!

ohhhh, okay, i didnt know if the apartments had air or not. thats good to know :)

that is not accurate. I had regular steak/kitchen knifes out in the open in my kitchen for 4 inspections and nothing was ever said, in fact the subject was brought up during the housing meeting.
