I am planning a Fall 2013 trip to Disney World with my family. My DD will be 5 and my DS will be 7. We have stayed at POR several times and loved it but think we may want to try something else. We would like a hotel close to everything with short travel times that the kids will love. No budget. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks.

A resort stay on the monorail loop is highly recommended. Close to MK, easy access over to TTC and Epcot, chance to easily go back to your room for some afternoon downtime.

My recommendation would also be monorail loop. Preferably CR, for the convenience of path to Magic Kingdom. garden wing rooms are the most reasonably priced. Super convenient if you plan on attending Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party.

Of course you will get many different suggestions on here so I'll throw my two cents in! We absolutely love the Polynesian and stay there as often as we can afford to do so. Here are some reason as to why it's always been our favorite:

- transportation (monorail to MK and next to TTC to get monorail to Epcot)
- beautifully landscaped and well themed
- you can watch wishes and the lagoon show right from the beach/pool area
- Ohana And Kona cafe!!!
- standard room sleeps 5
- watercraft rentals
- spirit of Aloha
- lei making and hula lessons in GCH
- volcano pool and cabana rentals
- home of the lapu lapu drink!

Im sure there are plenty of others I'm missing some will add them as I think of them :)

Agree with above answers. Any monorail resort would be good. I think that Poly is most kid friendly.

However, if you like Epcot or HS more, staying in a Epcot hotel would be awesome (they're my favorite). If you stay at Boardwalk, YC, or BC (or even S&D), you have walking and boat access to Epcot, HS, all hotels in the area, and the Boardwalk.

How long are you planning on staying? If more than 7 days, you might consider a split stay.

I would do the Poly for 5 and the Beach Club for 5. That would be ideal for my family.

We will only be there for 4 nights/5 days and will definitely be spending the most time at MK.

I've heard great things about Poly but wasn't sure how kid friendly it was. I think my kids would like the Animal Kingdom Lodge but it is so far from everything.

I woukd choose a monorail resort, which ever resort theme your family prefers. For us, it would be the cr. We like the theming, love the room views from the tower, and love the walkway to the MK (much quicker than the monorail and it is the only monorail resort that has this).

Yeah!! My vote is for the Poly for the above reasons. The Poly is, to me, any age friendly. Little kids would love it, my teens loved it and as an adults my DH and I loved it :thumbsup2

We are trying the YC this year, as my teens want to try SAB. If not, we would be back at the Poly in a heart beat!

Your kids will probably love AKL but you'd be sacrificing location for that resort (plus you'd be taking a bus everywhere.)

If location is as important to you as you said in your original post, then you'd be better off at one of the MK area or Epcot area resorts. Beach Club and Yacht Club would give you access to Stormalong Bay.

We've stayed at AKL and didn't find that it was painfully far from anywhere. I love all the parks just about equally though, so the convenience to AK means just as much to me as convenience to MK. We didn't have any kids at the time though.

If I had no budget on that trip, I likely would have stayed in one of the Epcot area resorts, because of the proximity to both DHS and Epcot (again, no kids on that trip).
Otherwise, I would definitely go with on the monorail.
I don't think there's a resort on the Disney property that's not kid-friendly, but of course, I've only gone with kids once.

Another vote for the Poly :). We love the Poly for the tropical atmosphere, the beach for watching the fireworks, being on the monorail, the large rooms (although all the monorail resort rooms are large), and Captain Cooks for quick CS meals and snacks. I think all Disney resorts are kid friendly, so I wouldn't worry about that. Good luck deciding and even if you don't choose the Poly, I would definitely go with another monorail resort for convenience and transportation :goodvibes.
