So, we are taking our little princess to see her first Bway show tomorrow. Mary Poppins! We are all very excited and have been singing the soundtrack for weeks not to mention have been watching the movie about a million times! I think I know every word - and have tried to explain to her that the musical will be different (she is only 4 1/2). I digress . . .

Anyway, the reason we have decided to take her is:

As you may remember I am a second grade teacher. Well, one of my former students is playing Michael Banks in the show! How cool is that? Anyway, he is going to give us a backstage tour once the show is over and I don't have a clue what to bring him as a "congratulations" and a "thank you."

If it was a little girl, flowers or chocolates would be the answer but a boy is a whole different story.

We are stumped.

HELP!!

Her first Broadway show!!! How exciting! I wish I could see the look on her face. Make sure you let us all know how she does!

Now, for him ... actually candy isn't a bad idea. Hey, who doesn't like candy? Instead of a box of 'girlie' candies you could get him something a boy would like. One of my employees is a big kid at heart and he always gets unique candy, I remember one of the kinds he had were eggs that were chocolate and coated in something, inside there were 'gummy' dinosaurs. He loves stuff like that and he's an adult!

Does he have any hobbies or interests? A book on a topic would be nice and you could always write a note to him inside the cover. I would say stay away from anything Mary Poppins themed since he's probably already gotten lots of it.

Have a great time!

iTunes - can't have too many of those ever!

We saw MPoppins on B'way last April and at that time they had a fundraising event for AIDS research. My mom paid $100 for us to go back stage for a tour and we got to meet the cast...very cool!

I vote for Candy or since you are a teacher, how about a Barnes and Noble GC?

I think boys ARE harder to buy for than girls -- books, gift cards (I-tunes, Toys R Us, etc) or maybe a gift certificate for a museum or spots event...

great suggestions -I think we are going to stop at Dylan's candy shop in NYC and pick up some fun candy and have them wrap it all up for us!

Thanks again!!!
