We recently took a trip to WDW while I was 6 months pregnant. I did a lot of research and spent a lot of time preparing. I was nervous I wouldn't enjoy the trip as much, but was surprised that it was actually one of our best trips. So I thought I'd share some of the things I learned from my experience for the next mom-to-be headed to the parks.
1. Choose your resort carefully. Think about how many breaks you'll need and how long it takes to get to/from the resort to the parks. We stayed at an All Star resort and didn't think about the fact they typically have the longest lines for the busses. That wait is not fun when you're hot, tired, and pregnant. Lesson learned. (Even not pregnant, with having 3 kids now, we plan to stay at a different resort).
2. Water water water. Take a nice big water bottle with you to start the day and make sure to keep sipping on it ALL day. When you run out, step into one of the QS restaurants and ask for a refill on your water. I didn't have anyone refuse. They may give you a small cup of water instead of taking your bottle. That's fine, just dump it in your bottle and then ask for a refill.
3. Take your best shoes. I took two actually. I had a nice pair of walking shoes and a supportive pair of flip flops (Croc brand are my favorite). Then I'd switch them out each day to keep my feet from hurting.
4. The baby center is not just for babies. Each park has a nicely air conditioned baby center (typically at the front of the park). If I felt too hot or worn out, I'd pop in there and take a break with my feet up and rock in the chairs. They also have nice clean bathrooms and free cups of water. One afternoon I took my 3 yr old with me and she played with the puzzles and watched the movie playing while I rested.
5. DDP was the best while pregnant! I cleared buffets with my dr (who only suggested asking for my plate to be heated in the microwave if I didn't see steam coming up from the food - which never happened so I didn't do that - and also to avoid cold meats). I loved having two snacks each day, a QS brunch, and a big late lunch/early TS dinner. This pregnant mama was HAPPY! Tusker House, Biergarten, and Liberty Tree Tavern were a few of our favs.
6. Memory maker is worth every penny! I was sad that I was going to miss riding 7DMT and Splash with my daughters. But I was thankful we had MM so I could see their huge smiles afterwards. Also, we made an early ADR at BOG and I was able to have one of the photographers get pics of just me and my baby belly in front of the castle.
Those are my top suggestions. What are some other suggestions/tips you would share with a mom-to-be heading to Disney? What was your experience?
