Hi, I'm new to the DISboards. I'm Lisa,wife and mom to 7 kids.

We're planning a trip to Disney in late October...the 23 and 24th. It'll be me, hubbie, and 5 of our kids (older two are away in college). Kids ages are 17, 14, 9, 6, and 3yo. Our 14yo is turning 14 on the 23rd, so I've already printed up the free admission for his birthday (we're FL residents).

I've checked on the Disney site and know that Fri the 23rd is an early close day for Magic Kingdom, due to the Halloween Celebration that night. Because of this, we're going to do Magic Kingdom on Sat the 24th.

Since there are no 2-day passes, we'll have to get 3 day passes for the rest of us, and a 1 day pass for our birthday boy for the Saturday.

Any suggestions for our visit would be appreciated. Which park is good for kids our children's ages for the Friday? Any ticket suggestions?

We'll be driving up to Orlando on Thursday, spending the two nights there, tacking this trip onto a business trip my husband has to Orlando. We'll likely stay at the hotel he'll be at for the week.

Should I bring our stroller for the 3yo or get one at the parks? He usually walks, but know he'll get tired on those days.

Our 6yo has type 1 diabetes, so I'm doing some extra research on making sure we have her medical needs covered too.

Thanks!

I think you could probably easily get two days out of MK, but otherwise, I'd ask what your kids are most into;
if they like science/space, etc.: I'd recommend Epcot
if they like animals: I'd recommend Animal Kingdom
if they are into movies, and the older ones love thrill rides and you don't mind seperating for a while so the little ones can see more "preschool stuff" and the older ones can do the thrill ride thing; then I'd recommend Hollywood studios.

So, what are your kiddos into?

As far as the stroller thing, I'd bring a stroller for your little one. More comfortable, and you'd have it for the walk back to the entrance, walk to the car once off the tram, walk around the hotel, etc. You won't need it first thing in the morning, but at the end of a late night it's a Godsend. You might also want to consider a touring plan from touringplans.com or tourguidemike. It could help you avoid some of the wait times.

This may help a little. When I signed up and registered my son Jordan's birthday on the Disney World site for our upcoming trip in December, I got an email confirmation. In the right hand margin, there was a button that said that you could upgrade the free birthday ticket to a 3 day ticket for only $54. That would only save you money on his ticket, but it would be a decent savings that could be applied to someone else's ticket. Good luck on a wonderful trip.

BTW my children love Epcot and it has things that both your older and younger children would enjoy. The food and wine festival will still be going there as well, so that would be my recommendation for Friday.

Be sure to check all the guidelines regarding free admission on your son's birthday. I was told by CM that you had to go to a ticket agent on your birthday to get your free admission, and free admission was for your birth date only.

Wouldn't want you to miss his free admission by one day. :sad2:
