There appears to be some negative ‘tone’ on using/recommending 2-way radios onboard. For us, these are a great tool. We can ‘split up’ to see things that may interest some while allowing others to do another activity. I love that we are not ‘tied’ to ‘a clock’ to meet at a specific spot. This eliminates someone rushing through an activity they are enjoying just to not disappoint others that are waiting for them.

So, I thought I’d start a post and request the DIS community offer suggestions to those wanting to take walkie-talkie’s on:
(1) how to use them without distracting others,
(2) locations to avoid and
(3) options available to use them properly

Guess I’ll start

- Walkie-talkies are not for holding conversations. We use them for ‘short’ and ‘to the point’ instructions.
- If someone pages us while in a movie or at an activity that someone is leading a class/series…we will leave and go to an area more appropriate to use our radios.
- Each radio has an ear plug…to be used when outside noise can distract or be a nuisance to others.

Please pass along your suggestions so those wanting to take walkie-talkies will not offend others.

I think you left the most important thing out. It is highly likely that they won't work on the ship. Too much metal.

When in doubt, pack light.
