There are lots of special programs for children like pirates and princess parties. Does anyone suggestions for an older child. My son is 11 and we are going in Janruary. He is to old for the pirates and little too young for Downtown Disney. Any suggestions would be appreciated.:confused3

We have a 12 year old girl and we try to plan a "suprise" for her each trip. Something she doesn't know about until the day of.
In '07 we did an Illuminations Firework Cruise, she is still talking about.
In '08 we are doing the Pirate and Princess Party. It really isn't for just for little kids. It is geared for the whole family and the lines at the rides are supposed to be great. It even has it's own fireworks display. You might want to consider it if there is a party on one of the dates you are there.
Something else to consider is DisneyQuest if he is into video games. We have never been but have heard it is great.

I think the hidden mickeys and the scavenger hunt book is great for older kids... The passport scavenger hunt book has different levels for all ages and I have to tell you its not easy but its a LOAD OF FUN!
I also love looking for hidden mickeys thru out the parks & hotels...
If you dont want to buy the book I can pm you some hidden mickey places for you! :)

I read recently about a new kids program for older kids, geared towards- animal safari. I didn't write it down as my kids were not old enough, but it sounded interesting. It was similar to the cruise, as it was a set time, for a few hours. Maybe check Animal Kindgom?

I would think Disney Quest at Downtown Disney would be right up his alley. I know that I'm planning to take my 10 year old nephew there because from everything I hear, he should love it.

My sons, ages 10,13,15,&16 all loved Disneyquest and went most every night we were there.Completely worth going to!! Cheese Cake Factory also there for your enjoyment!!:woohoo:
