We just booked a 7-day @ POFQ w/ free dining (mid-grade) for March 2012. :thumbsup2 It is me, DH, and DD(5). DH and I did a few days @ WDW for our honeymoon 8+ years ago, will be DD's first trip :cheer2:. Looking for advise on a couple/few character meals (she likes most but especially Tinkerbell/fairies) and other restaurant musts for all 3 of us to enjoy. Maybe a dinner w/ fireworks somewhere. Any help is much appreciated - thank you in advance!

There are no fairy meals. However, if she likes princesses, Akershus is a great deal on the dining plan - only one credit and photo package included (the picture is usually with Belle, but could be with a different princess)

I suggest

Crystal Palace - Pooh & Friends
Chef Mickey's - Mickey
Tusker House - Donald
Ohana - Dinner (no characters)
Cape May (Beach Club) Dinner - no characters

Cinderella's Royal Table, at MK Castle for Breakfast - Took our DD here when she was 4 and took her to BBB (Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique) before was the best ever!! You will have to make a reservation for BBB separate. Worth it, we have not returned but it is a wonderful memory. It is 2 TS credits on Dining Plan.

You can also see Cindy at 1900 Park Fare at Grand Floridian.

We also paid out of pocket for the My Girl's Perfectly Princess Tea Party at Grand Floridian. It is expensive but worth it. This is not on the Dining Plan. She had a wonderful time and now we return for just tea every trip at the Garden View Tea Room.

:yay:

We loved Akershus for breakfast. The food was great and my daughters loved all the princesses. Bell was there are we got take home pictures with her that are really nice (good quality). We also did dinner at CRT, but I liked Akershus better. Chef Mickey's was another good character meal. Not sure if you are doing autograph books, but is is good to see these characters at meals and then in the parks you don't have to stop and wait for them.

On our first trip, we did 3 character meals:
Tusker House (B)
Crystal Palace (B)
1900 PF (D)

Crystal Palace was my son's fave but he has a Tigger obsession. 1900 PF was fun for the entire group, which consisted of 6 adults & 2 kids. Tusker House I could have done without. It was too noisy and too hectic and it just pretty much gave me a headache.

We also ate at WCC which was a lot of fun.

This time around, our character meals are:
Crystal Palace (B) - yes again, at my son's request. I love that he still wants to go there at almost age 8.
Akershus (L) - for my daughter who will be 5 and LOVES Princesses.

Another fun option woulid be taking the boat to Downtown Disney and eating at Raglan Road and watching the dancing and band. My DD8 loved that, and the boat ride is a great advantage of POFQ!

No princesses but We love the Garden Grill at the Land in Epcot. It is a revolving restaurant and has mickey .chip, dale and pluto...

excellent character interaction , if you go you must give pluto a scratch... he loves it... LOL

The boat to dtd from PO is great and for a free evening of entertainment , take the boat to PO riverside and see Yee haw Bob... fun Piano player with silly audience participation... have a drink and have some fun...:thumbsup2

I second Garden Grill. We ate here in May 2011 and it was one of our best character meal interactions. They came around at least 5 times. Our server was wonderful too and the food was really yummy. We had Mahi Mahi, flank steak and turkey. IThere was rice, mashed potatoes and a veggie. I don't like gravy so I just asked for a portion of the turkey with no gravy and our server brought it right out. DS loved the kids food which was a chicken drumstick, baked mac and cheese, broccoli, and sweet potato fries. We will definately go here again!

Coral Reef is neat for kids no characters but really large aquarium. Sci-Fi also neat no characters but drive in movie and you eat in cars my kids love it there and there are 5 and 2. Chef Mickey's for breakfast or dinner is really neat get to meet Mickey Minnie Goofy Pluto and Donald and watch the monorail pass through the Contemporary Resort.

When we went we did 4 Character Meals. My wife likes them mainly because they are buffets and there is a wide selection for all tastes. Especially my middle girl who is very picky. Our Meals for our trip were:

1: 1900 Park Fare. Very good character interaction, but I recommend an earlier or later time because it get noisy in there. Cinderella and Prince Charming highlight the dinner, but the evil step mother and step sisters play a great part also. The food was good and the kid get to dance with Cindy and PC.

2. Chef Mickey's for breakfast. Again buffet with wide selection. Characters were fantastic, especially Goofy and Pluto. I know this restaurant sometime gets a bad rap, but it was great. The characters were worth it.

3. Boma- Buffet with African style food. Americanized, but you need to have a more open mind and palate when you eat there. I thought it was very good and ate more than my share of zebra domes, but if you have a picky eater it might not be the best choice. Personal opinion only.

4. Ohana for dinner. Book it as soon as possible. If you are able to get in enjoy. It is one of the toughest restaurants to get in for a reason, and if you time it right you can watch the fireworks from there or from the beach at the poly. Well worth it.

5. Akershus for Breakfast. Best place to see as many princesses as possible. Professional picture with Belle when you first arrive, and when we went we saw Cinderella again, Snow White, Ariel, and Aurora(sleeping Beauty). I was able to get pictures with all of them with my girls, but also had to explain why this Cinderella was different from the one the other night, and Cinderella did a good job when my daughter asked if she remembered her. She looked up at me and I was able to mouth her name and Cindy repeated it without missing a beat. Crisis averted.

6. Ohana again for breakfast. Both Akershus and Ohana serve breakfast family style. Basic plates of eggs and bacon with sausage etc. Mickey waffles at Ohana were a nice touch, but they only brind one out for each of you and you typically have to ask for more. This is also a character meal with Mickey, Pluto, Lilo and Stitch. Characters again were excellent, especially Stitch. Make sure you ask for the Pog juice.

We are going again this year and doing 1. Ohana 2. Akershus 3. Mama Melrose's 4. Tusker House 5. 1900 Park Fare and 6. Whispering Canyon's Cafe. Have a great time and good luck..:goodvibes

My 5 year old DD would rank her favorites
1. Castle (CRT)(princess meal) - MK Formal Pic with Cinderella
2. Biergarten -Epcot (loves that German band and getting out on the dance floor during the show)
3. Akershus- Epcot (princess meal) Formal Pic with Belle
4. 1900 Park Fare Dinner (cinderella; Prince; stepsisters; stepmother).
5. Crystal Palace- (Pooh and friends character meal).

Those are the ones that she absolutely wants to do every single trip.
We usually do lunch not breakfast, because she is not a morning person and we have a slight time change so pre-park opening breakfasts don't work well for us. I'm a big fan of the Tusker House character breakfast at AK (Mickey and the Gang- but Daisy and not Minnie).

You can get on allears.net and get the menus and prices for all the restaurants. It can be a huge help in figuring out what you want.
