Suggestions needed: Cd's/Songs to add to daughter's iPod Shuffle

My daughter is getting a shuffle for her 7th birthday and I was trying to think of some good music to add on it for her. Any Suggestions?

What kid of music does she normally listen to?

I probably wouldn't put a whole lot on at first.. give it to her with a few, and have her tell you others she wants.

Both my girls have fp3 players and they've asked for specific songs at times, so I just add them when they ask.

It's funny the combination that is on there now, lol.. have some disney, some classic (for going to bed with), some christmas (yes, they listen to that year round, hehe), and older dd LOVES patriotic songs so she has quite a few of those.

Does all the same stuff but has a screen and is upgradable with SD Cards and wifi radio.

My daughter had a shuffle but it was too small she would misplace it and didnt have regular radio something she liked so I got her a Sansa Fuze and she loves it!

Music depending on your daughters taste the kids bop cd's are kinda cool and the Now series of cd's give you a variety on one cd. You can look at the song list to get some ideas then look for the ones you want to D/L also.

My mom is giving her the shuffle - it's one she got for nothing as a "reward" at work. so she's buying her a docking station/speakers for it as well. It won't be carried around much - just used in her room and on trips.

My dd6 has Hannah Montana/Miley Cirus, Jonus, Chipmunks and a few songs from Bible School.

We got Mix Max's for my boys and the Mix Stick for my dd. Since my kids love to play Rock Band (2 & Lego) we loaded a bunch of the songs from that onto the boys, as well as quite a few "classics" they play at school dances and sporting events. I couldn't pull of the song list but had saved them as jpgs for another mom who wanted to load up her kids as well. Here are the boys lists:

Prior to purchasing the kids MP3 players we had about 1500 CDs already ripped to MP3 (we have bought a LOT over the years!) so much of this is music we already owned. I think we spent maybe $10 on a few random ones from Amazon.

Check out whats playing on radio disney. When I preloaded my girls ipods, I checked on the site to see what was "in", made a list and then downloaded them from itunes.

I work in a retail store, and sell a TON of Hannah Montana, JoBros, Taylor Swift, etc, which I think is great for kids that age. With absolutely NO disrespect intended towards anyone whatsoever, about three weeks ago a little girl came in with her mother, saw a cd, and sang and danced to the song that had lyrics that were (in my mind) very provocative (imho R rated, as it was a Parental Control cd) Now, I am not a mother so please again I mean no offense, but I asked how old the little girl was, she was super adorable, and her mother said 4. As soon as they left, I called my good friend who has girls that age and told her to read the lyrics to songs that the girls are allowed to have on their mp3 players, because I just saw a little girl simulating a pop stars naughty song. Just a suggestion, and again no offense intended to anyone at all, for all I know the little girl heard it while her mom wasn't around. End rant.

This is a great thread....my DD8 has had her iPod for over a year, and I got some good ideas for new nusic for her just perusing through everyone's suggestions.

One I haven't seen mentioned yet is the Lilo & Stitch soundtrack. There are some great songs on that one...both my kids are fans! You might also want to check out your local party store. I've bought some party CDs there at pretty low prices, and that music is geared toward being kid-friendly.

Also, I'd definitely second littlezar's suggestion of the Enchanted soundtrack!
