We (me, wife and mom) will be at WDW for Christmas this year (Should be DVC members by then, but unfortunately we will be staying off site) and I'm looking for recommendations for the Christmas meal. So ... where did your family have Christmas dinner? What kind of meal was it (eg. traditional christmas fare buffet, etc.)? and how was it?

We were in Disney last Christmas and went for the not so traditional Christmas meal. We did the dinner buffet at Boma and LOVED IT! :lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc It was my DMIL's favorite meal of the whole trip. She is still talking about it!

We have not done it for Christmas, but we would pick Liberty Tree Tavern in MK. Family style dinner that we all have enjoyed in the past.

Bobbi :sunny:

We did the Christmas Processional with the meal, and we ate at Living Seas. It was great! Two of us had steak, one had shrimp, and one got chicken, and we all thought it was great! In past years we have eaten at France, China, and the Land, and we liked Living Seas so well we have already decided to go back there.

DD and I did V&A for Christmas Dinner two year's ago!

We still talk about it! Well, she jokes about the Pate! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

It was a lovely dinner and then afterwards we hit MK!

Thanks for the replys - hopefully there will be many more. This may be a silly question (it wouldn't be my first ... or last :teeth: ), but can you eat at one of the resort/hotel restaurants if you are not staying there?

What's the Christmas Processional??

Donaldnut - we were already considering the buffet at Boma for one of our non-Christmas day dinners and your recommendation cemented our decision to do just that.

yes you can

I'm seeking more suggestions/recommendations for Christmas Day dinner. I'm sure that with many of the restaurants doing something special (or adding additional choices to the menu) for Christmas Day dinner there have to be many Disney lovers that have enjoyed a fantastic meal on Christmas Day! :sunny: Does anyone else have a (or multiple :) ) suggestion???

Our favorite is Le Cellier followed by the Candlelight Processional. Make your ressies soon, though!

I just booked Le Cellier at 7am today, they were already pretty full. I had 2 choices 4:40 or 7:50, took the 4:40, so we can do CP.

This will be our 7th Christmas At WDW, and we always have Christmas dinner at Yachtsman's Steakhouse. Christmas Eve we go to Rose and Crown for dinner. It has become a family tradition!

We've only been there twice for Christmas dinner and both times did the Candlelight Processional package with dinner at R&C. We picked R&C because prime rib with Yorkshire pudding used to be on the menu and that is what we have at home. Two of our children wanted to keep that tradition.

The Candleight Processional is a perfect way to celebrate the day or Christmas Eve I think. It is so beautiful that I get goose bumps thinking about it.

Many of the restaurants do have special menus that day as well as special prices. ;) But it always seems the info on particulares comes out much closer to Christmas.

If we go back a that time I think I would try California Grill and do the CP on Christmas Eve. The reviews I've seen of CG on Christmas were great.

The places that come to mind that will have a more traditional holiday meal are Liberty Tree, Boatwrights, Olivias, and Crystal Palace. I'm sure many others will have things going as well. Dining usually has a list as you get closer of who will be having traditional fare. Otherwise, there are many nice places to eat.

If you want to eat in a park, I would go with a restaurant in Epcot, for several reasons. There is a lot of holiday events going on in Epcot and they also have the largest number of really good restaurants--food wise, over the other parks.
If you want to eat at a resort, I would suggest either Artist Point in WL because the holiday atmosphere at WL is the best and they also have very good food. Or I would suggest one of the restaurants in the Epcot resorts. They also have very good food, there are holiday activites on the boardwalk--carolers, Santa, etc., and you will be just a walk away from all the holiday events at World Showcase.
The holiday season at WDW is very magical. We have been there for 3 Christmas' out of the past 6. This year we are staying home for Christmas but are going to WDW for New Years!
Have a great trip!
