Hi-- we're planning a trip for mid September, and will be at WDW for my youngest son's 4th birthday. We celebrated his birthday with a cake at dinner at Chef Mickey's last year, and celebrated his brother's birthday in December with a cake at dinner at Whispering Canyon Cafe. Both of them really enjoyed the fuss.
So this year, we want to order a cake again, but I'm having a hard time figuring out when and where to order it. We wanted to have dinner at WCC on his birthday, but could only get a late lunch reservation (gonna keep checking for cancellations, though!), so we're planning to break up a day at the MK with a trip to WCC for lunch. When we were there for my other son's birthday, the restaurant's desserts sounded so good, we had them packed up to take back to the hotel (yes, for breakfast!), while we ate birthday cake for dessert. We'd like to do something similar this time, but we'll be going back to MK after lunch, and keeping the desserts fresh would be a problem (we're staying at POR-- too far to make a detour and stick them in the fridge). We're just doing counter service for dinner that night, so we won't be able to order a cake with dinner. I don't want my son not to have a birthday cake on his birthday, so I was thinking about ordering from the POR bakery, assuming this is a possibility. What do y'all think? Has anyone ordered a cake to be waiting in their hotel room? I would think this would be easy enough at a deluxe, but I'm not sure about a moderate. Or do you have another suggestion as to when or where to order one?
Thanks in advance, and I hope I haven't made this too convoluted to understand!
