I will be sleeping in a hotel with someone who snores. Any suggestions out there?? I would not want to listen to music - and not sure if I would want something that blocks all sound - I love a fan - is there something you can wear that has that kind of sound ?? Thanks

I always bring earplugs when I travel. They would help with a snoring roommate (or a loud hotel room).

Would the snorer be willing to sew a tennis ball on the back of his or her pyjamas? They won't be able to sleep on their back and it suposedly stops the snoring.

I never, ever sleep on my back. I snore. I now have a CPAP machine. That is the only thing that has worked.

OP, it depends on how light of a sleeper you are. I can't sleep with ANY noise other than a white noise machine. I am very sensitive. I can hear snoring above the white noise. I can hear it above ear plugs. The only thing that works is a separate room.

Well for my husband I kick him and tell him to roll over. I'm guessing this isn't an option? :rotfl2:

Not sure if it will help, but if you have an iPod there is a free white noise app with a fan. I use it quite a bit.

It is my sister - and she does not snore that much!! Yeah right! I have used the tossing the pillow across the room but you can only do that so much. Just have to get out and look. It is only for one night - but it sure can be a long night! No, do not want two roooms as this is to stay the night at Universal - just to expensive for two rooms.

If she is a light snorer, nasal strips may help. I found them somewhat irritating to use but they may be okay for a few nights.

I can tell you the tennis ball thing does not work!

Ask the person to not go to bed until AFTER you have fallen asleep. That way you will at least get some sleep. I find snoring doesn't wake me up, but it KEEPS me up if I am awake.

If this night will occur after walking all over the parks all day long, maybe you'll be so tired that you won't hear her? I know our family sleeps great when we are at WDW, because we are SO exhausted from the day's activities! :thumbsup2

If not, consider taking Benedryl to help you sleep through it.

Okay so you might not want to replay it for her until AFTER your trip is over, if it will make her mad... since she apparently is in denial about her snoring, but -

There is an app in the iPhone app store called SnoreLab. You can put the phone near someone who is snoring and it will both record the snoring and measure the decibel level. My husband didn't believe me when I told him how loud he was, until he got to hear (and see) the evidence for himself...

Anyway, playing it for her might help her understand. Snoring can be a symptom of other things (like hidden apnea) so IMHO it's important that people know.

I'm the same way! My husband snores extremely loudly and falls asleep with the TV on. I am a light sleeper that hates any kind of light. Foam ear plugs and eye masks are the only way I get any sleep if he falls asleep before I do (which always happens because he can fall asleep in 2.5 seconds). With the ear plugs I can still hear him, but it's a much more muffled sound and doesn't sound like he is inside my head snoring :(.

28 yrs of sleeping next to a loud snorer. Best I 've found is the silicone type ear plugs. Walmart has them in the ear care section.

earplugs will help if the snoring is not that loud but they don't totally block out the sound.
You might think this is funny but my son used to bring an air mattress along and when his older brother snored too loud he takes the air mattress into the bathroom and sleeps in the tub.
I hope she is a light snorer...

Another vote for the silicone-type of ear plugs. I'm a light sleeper as well, and I
can vouch for them blocking out sound. A vacation with 2 other couples, a
rental condo, and a broken water pipe in the middle of the night scenario. Even
with all of the panic and running up & down the stairs by other people, I didn't hear
a thing! You might want to try them out ahead of time at home to see if they are
comfortable enough, but I will never travel without mine!

I need to get this app so my hubby can see what I deal with! He is a great husband and will even go to the couch for me when it gets too bad! I need to try the earplugs, too. I've dealt with the snoring for 25 years now, but it's harder to deal with now that I'm older and don't sleep well anyway.

What helps me with DH snoring is I make him turn on his right side by gently pushing him over if he is on his back.

I work nights and sleep with a fan on. Now I have a hard time sleeping without that sound, especially while travelling. I purchased a HoMedics SS-2000G/F-AMZ Sound Spa Relaxation Machine with 6 Nature Sounds, Silver to travel with us. It's small and compact and fit in our suitcase. Brought it to WDW last month and it worked perfect and also helped to drown out our noisy upstairs neighbors

DH snores but normally all I have to do is shake his pillow!!! LOL Good Luck. The machine was under $20 and used the white noise setting.
