Hi everyone!

I'm going to be officially starting the new school year next week. This is my 3rd year teaching, and I really want to incorporate more Disney in my classroom. Beforehand, I only put Mickey ears on the penguins of my room door. Penguins are another love of mine; I usually have them everywhere.

Not all the students picked up on the Mickey ears until later in the year!

Anyway, I spoke about Disney in class and used it in examples, but I want to really brighten up the walls of my room with more Disney things! I thought of a few ideas, but I was trying to figure out more and thought, "Hey, maybe the good people of DIS have some ideas!"

These are the ones I already did:

1. WOODY - I'm setting up one section of the wall dedicated to things that are illegal or against the law in terms of writing (ex. it's illegal to write eachother as one word, should/could/would of instead of should/could/would have), and I'll add to it as it comes up in their writing. I chose Woody because he's a sheriff! Writing is important to me, which is why I also have a sign up in the center section above my whiteboard that says, "Take the time to write it wright" with the W in "wright" crossed out.

2. WALL-E (in front of his cooler with some garbage/treasure in it) - He's on a "Please Recycle" sign. It pains me when students throw away paper that could easily be dropped in my recycling box instead!

3. CINDERELLA (in her rags as she's cleaning) - She's on a "Help keep our room clean!" sign.

Do you have any other ideas? It could be any Disney movie. The wider the variety, the better! Classic movies or current Pixar movies are fine. Even if you have an idea using the movies used above, please share!

Do you have any ideas for any other Disney things that may not be in the movies (ex. Mickey ears). I do have a stack of Mickey head paint samples from Home Depot, but I'm not quite sure what to do with them yet. Also, my sign is in Waltograph as you saw. Any inspirational quotations?

Any and every idea would be appreciated! Thanks in advance! :goodvibes

I teach third grade and my room is Disney this year. Do you have a Cricut machine? I used the Mickey and Friends cartridge which made it very easy. I use Mickey hands, pants, ears, heads, and shoes to divide them into groups for reading centers. I have a sign with Goofy that reads "Don't be Goofy, follow the rules" with our class rules posted. I made their name tags using Disney scrapbook paper and Mickey heads. I used Mickey heads for the calendar numbers. I cut out a happy Donald, a not so happy Donald, and a throwing a temper tantrum Donald to use for behavior-all I have to do is point to each one to let the class know how I am feeling about their behavior at the moment. I cut out Mickey head balloons, put their photo on each one, and the caption reads "Soaring into third grade." I made curtains using red, black and yellow polka dotted material. The kids love it. I teach in a small school, and it is well known that I am a Disney fan, so they (and the parents) get a kick out of it.

I love the Cinderella idea along with the wall-e. I might have to use those!

Oohhh...I like the WALL-E Recycling one! If my school is able to start recycling I might have to use that!

What about from Lilo & Stich...the whole O'hana/Nobody gets left behind thing to promote teamwork and cooperation with your class?

And from Dory...Just keep swimming when they feel like giving up?

Wow! I love your ideas! Do you happen to have any pictures to show? I'd love to see them!

I don't have a Cricut machine, but your suggestion makes me want one! I know they're costly though so for the time being, I'm going to have to hold off on that. I will keep it in mind though because I love that they have the hands, pants, etc. cartridge!

I'm going to use your Goofy idea! I really like your idea of the pictures. I may incorporate that for my homeroom class, but since I also teach in a small school, I have 6th-8th, and I can't do it for each one.

The Donald behavior thing is great too! I was thinking of having them put their names on the Mickey heads I have and sectioning off a part of my wall (or the front of my desk and I'll have them magnetized) and doing those "Traffic Light Behavior" things (red, yellow, and green lights for bad to good behavior). Again, it's problematic just because I'd have to have 3 different class sets.

The majority of the school knows that I love penguins! Haha, I want to have penguins and Disney this year. It'll make me feel better if I'm having one of those frustrating days. Thanks for the ideas!

Yeah, I wish we had a better recycling program. I put a cardboard box in my room and I bring the stacks of paper downstairs to the teachers' area because we have a bin specifically for recycling. We don't have it in the classrooms, but my kids throw away paper like there's no tomorrow. Literally.

I don't think they realize how much they're wasting. At the end of last year, I had a kid throw away almost an entire pack of looseleaf, STILL in the package. It was the expensive kind too with the reinforced edge! I pulled it out to save for this year because I know that kid will run out of looseleaf as will others. I had another kid ask me if he should throw away an entire stack of graph paper. I took it and saved it for this year too because I know half the class will forget to bring it in!

Great Lilo & Stitch and Dory ideas! I'm going to work on those signs now! Thanks so much for the ideas!

DD's teacher has a bulletin board with Sorcerer Mickey on it. The words say, "Our Class is Fantastic" and she hangs student work around it. I told her that we will be getting along just fine;) I love seeing Disney in the classroom.

I would put 4 mickey characters on the 4 walls. do one with mickey, one with minnie, another with donald and another with goofy or pluto.

Ooo! I love that idea! I love sorcerer Mickey, especially the hat. Plus, it's a very general comment to say that the class is fantastic, so I don't have to worry about when I'd use it. I can use it for any work! Thanks for the suggestion!

Haha, I have good relationships with parents who are Disney fans! Last year there was a mom who was a parent volunteer at the school. She was the one (along with her son) who encouraged me to read The Kingdom Keepers series. They also went to Disney last Christmas, came back and let me see all their vacation pics of the park, especially the Osborne lights that I've never seen before.

I should definitely use the Fab 4 somewhere in my classroom. Even though there are a ton of characters and tons of movies to choose from, the Fab 4 are the original ones and the most recognizable!
