Anyone else disappointed in the offerings and prices of so many of WDW's restaurants? I'm planning our first trip in 3 years, and can't believe how much prices have risen, and how the menus have changed (not in a good way, in mho;))

We'll have a car, and not too worried if we are off property, so where would you suggest going?

Have you posted on the Orlando forum? There might even be a thread pertaining to this. (Haven't been there recently.)

We like Bahama Breeze and Sweet Tomatoes.

My husband loves Charlie's steakhouse.

I'm seconding Sweet Tomatoes! And if you sign up for their email club on their website a couple days before you go, you'll get some bogo free coupons, which makes a good deal even better.

If you're looking to save some money, just outside of the WDW entrance near Downtown Disney is a strip mall with lots of fast food restaurants. It'd be easy to grab a Subway footlong or two then head into the parks for the day and have a quick and very cheap lunch ready to go.

We like Giordano's. You can get a certificate on restaurant.com and save money. I got a $25 certificate for $4, but that particular coupon code is now expired. Keep googling for restaurant.com coupon codes. They come up all the time. Right now the standard $25 certificate for $10 is all that I see, but a new code should be out any day.

Moving to the Orlando forum, as the Disney Restaurants forum is for discussion of restaurants on Disney property.

The Orlando forum will have more input from locals and those who regularly stay and eat offsite.

Seasons 52 & Roy's out on Sand Lake Rd. are a couple of favorites, though Roy's won't save you any money! :rotfl2: Cafe DiAntonio in Celebration might be another choice for you. I always come away thinking, "Good value." If you want some Italian, but don't want to head over to Celebration, there's Andiamo at the Hilton across from Downtown Disney. We've had good luck there as well. Never tried the Benihana which is at the same location.

I just had the pick 3 at TGIFridays for $18 (mozzarella sticks, petite filet, mashed potato, broccoli, and oreo cookie sundae.) Everything was very good.

The TGIFridays that I ate is at International Drive off Central Florida Pkwy (near Sea World.)

We just returned Saturday from a 10 night stay. This was our first visit not on the dinning plan. We ate at Giordano's one night and had tons of left overs so it fed us for 2 nights (I also had a restaurant.com certificate that I used there). We also ate at Sweet Tomatoes (I signed up online and got a buy one get one coupon). We ate at Steak and Shake one night as well. There are tons of inexpensive choices all around. This ended up being a much more cost effective way for us to eat versus the dinning plan.

Any suggestions for an offsite restaurant for my daughter's bday dinner?
She'd like Boma (we went 3 yrs ago on DDP) but I wince at the price oop.
What she liked about it was that it was buffet and there was nice service.

thanks!

We're in Orlando right not - staying at WH. We've only been here a couple days but so far we've tried Bruno's Italian and the Cracker Barrel on 192. Just got back from Cracker Barrel as a matter of fact. If you want country comfort food, it's great. Bruno's Italian, on the other hand - not so great. We wanted something delivered and it was one of the recommended restaurants in the literature we got when we checked in at WH and they included a menu. So we gave it a try. Prices were okay but the food was very bland to us. Doubt we'll order from there again.

If we get a chance to try some other restaurants in the area, I'll post back and let you know what we thought.

On last years trip, we had several adults. I purchased the $50 coupon (buy $100 worth of food, save $50). I don't always see this coupon. We were able to get 3 completely different pizzas, to please everyones taste, and a few appetizers also. We had a lot of pizza left, as their pizzas are HUGE and THICK!!

We were eating pizza for about 3 additional meals during the week. It tasted wonderful reheated and it is very filling. Can't wait to go back again and hope when I am ready to travel they will be offering the restaurant.com coupon for this restaurant! Yum!

Another great thing, was that we went at an odd time (around3:30), as we had traveled from Texas and arrived in Orlando at about noon. We were hungry and tired and the restaurant wasn't too crowded and service was good and fast. Just keep in mind that the huge thick pizzas they make, take longer than the average pizza. I think it was 30 or 35 min., but well worth the wait!!
