Suggestions for London

Hi,

I am thinking of going to London for a few days after the EB TA next year - depends on the money situation. As I've only been there on a tour before, I don't know where to stay. I'd like to stay someplace where I can get on the tube easily. I'm hoping some of you can help me.

Any parts of London I want to avoid?
What are the "safer" areas to stay?

Hi, whenever we stay in London we stay around the Bloomsbury / Covent Garden area, which is pretty central and has plenty of tube stations in the area.

Staying in central London can be quite expensive though, and you don't get as much space in your hotel room as you do in the US We got a good deal last time for 'Jurys' in Great Russell Street from a discount hotels website, and would definitely stay there again, a good location and a spacy room by London standards.

I'm sure other UK diser's will have some suggestions for you

When I stayed in London (for the weekend as a treat, I only live 20 mins away by train!) we stayed at the Westbury hotel near Regents Street. That was very nice, right by some of the most famous shops and Carnaby Street, and near enough to Oxford Circus to get anywhere by tube.

The room wasn't huge, but it was pretty, clean and with a nice bathroom (apparently according to my boyfriend, i can't remember!).

I stayed here the last time I was in London http://www.melia-whitehouse.com/en/...S002:I92:MWH&gclid=CMXgg5mrk5kCFYQH3wodckX6Yw - it was a lovely hotel, in a nice area across the road from Great Portland Street tube station and within walking distance of Hyde Park, Oxford Street, Madame Tussauds etc. The hotel is Spanish owned (Melia is a spanish hotel chain), but all the staff speak very good english, and the hotel and gets very good reviews on trip advisor.

They have some really good special offers at the moment - were planning on staying there in June rooms are only £80 a night
