We leave on the 5th of Jan and I was hoping for suggestions as to what to pack.
(me, hubby and DS3)
thanks

We were there Jan 5-13, 2006 with DD5 and DS3. We're in Illinois so we wore medium wt winter coats on the plane and ended up wearing them to the parks 2 days. Two of the days the highs were in the 40s. The rest of the time it was in the 60s or 70s during the day. We dressed the kids in layers- Tshirt, zip-up hoodie, long pants most days. I think they wore shorts all day once.

Look at the 10 day forcast on weather.com for your expected daytime highs. The kids actually went swimming two of the days and we saw people swimming in temps in the 50s. Yikes!

We LOVED going that week!!! The crowds were small and it never rained. The cooler temps allowed us to stay in the parks from opening until 4 or 5pm with no "nap break" and the kids easily kept up with that schedule. (We never did fireworks, but the kids were always in bed sleeping at 8pm and ready to go early the next morning.) Have fun!

Yeah that! We were there from January 5th through the 10th... It was CHILLY! For a few days they had record low temps and it even frosted overnight! Definately bring medium weight coats. If you have little ones with you, bring a blanket for them whilethey are in their stroller. I used a big hooded sweatshirt to cover my DD up in her stroller who was 2 at the time. I also ended up buying her MITTENS!

Don't get me wrong, that was only for the early morning and evening hours. Afternoons were perfect! But yeah, definately pack for "two seasons"... Capris are a good compromise. Yu definately can't go wrong with those. (Unless you're a guy. LOL!)

You will LOVE IT that time of year! Have a great trip!

:goodvibes Last year we went at the end of Jan. I think layers are the way to go zip off pants or capri pants sweat shirts and sweat shirt jackets are great!
Have a great trip!:thumbsup2

The thing I always remind people is that when you look at daily highs temps you need to remember that it will only be that temp for an hour or so in the mid-afternoon. So....if highs are in the mid-70s the early morning and late afternoon will be cool and the evenings could be very chilly. People always say "It was in the 70s when we went and it was so hot" and I always laugh, yea, maybe if you are from Canada. Also, the pools are heated (well, they claim to heat them) but the air when you get out is the problem. We are southerners and generally don't swim that time of year, though we may jump in the hot tub! Have fun......

We love this time of year-crowdwise and weatherwise!! One important thing to remember when out for the whole day-bring sweatshirts or lightweight coats-if not you will end up buying expensive sweatshirts. It seems to get chilly quickly at night-or maybe we were just too distracted with everything else going on!!!
Have fun!!!

We love January. I always wear a long sleeved shirt and just tough it. If it gets too hot I roll up the sleeves and search for Philharmagic or some other temperature regulated ride, and if it gets too cold for JUST a long sleeved shirt I snuggle up to my beautiful wife, who's usually overdressed in the colder temperatures. I'm a plumber, so I have to work in freezing temperatures and often have to work in the pouring down rain, so Ive developed a tolerance for temperatures, but I never mind snuggling up to the wife anywhere I am, and if it gives me a good excuse to, all the much better!
I'll take January cold over August heat ANY DAY!!!

thanks for the idea's. I think I will have to pack more than I thought.

I'm packing right now.... T's and jeans for park days,, sweatshirts we can layer on those if necessary, lighter jackets for on the sweatshirts if it gets colder, and little knit gloves in case it's very chilly at night. been there many times, and you never know, but pack for layers, so you can dress according to the daily weather, and not have 100 suitcases!
also swimsuits for those 'daily highs':cool1: I woudn't trade january for anything!

We're from Iowa and 60s in January seems warm! So, we made our hotel open the water slide up for us and enjoyed swimming. All the locals thought we were crazy. :confused3
