Hi fellow Disney-philes!

My fiancé and I are planning an October trip to Disney World. We've never gone this time of year before, so we're very excited!

What we were wondering is, does anyone have any suggestions on romantic must-sees? We're looking for relatively cheap and fun things to do (for instance, not exactly a sit down dinner at an expensive restaurant), and we'd love suggestions of places to visit in the little known parts of the World. We've both been to the Value Resorts, but I've been to Caribbean Beach, and he's been to Fort Wilderness. So we haven't seen much of the resorts! I thought maybe there might be some interesting and fun places hidden away someplace there!

To give you an idea of what kind of vacation we're looking for, we want to be immersed in Disney. Nothing really that we could easily do at home in Northern NY, and something quintessentially Disney. As cheesy as it sounds, we want it to be magical, as Walt himself intended.

We're walking blind here, so any suggestions will be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks so much!!!!

That WOULD be awesome. I'll look into it, as it might be out of our budget. Thanks!

Where are you staying? My boyfriend and I unintentionally got in very late (around 1:00 AM) from our flight to PO Riverside, and we had THE MOST ROMANTIC NIGHT going for a late-night swim in the quiet pool and walking around the Alligator Bayou. There was all of this wildlife out--we saw turtles, rabbits, and lizards--and the place was empty. Granted it won't be so warm in October! But still, late at night, we had the whole place to ourselves and it was just the most magical way to arrive. I'm sure you've got your resort all planned out, but PO Riverside was an AMAZING value and incredibly romantic for the $.

Another morning, we're both really into animals, so we actually found walking the animal trails at Animal Kingdom by ourselves was really romantic, too. We went early in the morning when AK opened. The animals were pretty active, and it felt like we were going on an adventure together. I know it goes against all trip planning advice out there (gotta hit EE or the safari FIRST!!!), but we wanted something magical, not perfectly-planned-to-avoid-lines-Go-Go-GO!!

Unfortunately for our romance, we were traveling with the rest of my family who was staying at Saratoga Springs. After we met up with them the next morning, the romance was kinda gone, for the most part. Oh well--for another trip!!! I doubt these qualify as really Disneyfied magical moments, but I was still surprised that you could find quiet times and places in WDW!

Since you haven't been in October...check out the Halloween Party....don't miss the Headless Horseman at the beginning of the Parade....this is an expensive splurge, but worth it. Tickets are cheaper online before you go.

POR is a great place for romantic walks...and they even have a carriage ride!

We registered with Disney Honeymoons...friends could "gift" things at Disney.
You might consider that.

We got married and Honeymooned at WDW in October. The Food and Wine Festival is in full swing at EPCOT. If you are willing to try new foods from around the globe, this is excellent. We split most things and then we got a little sample of each. You could do that one day.

Be sure to wear your Mickey Bride and Groom headgear. We did and had LOTS of Congrats including one from Mickey while he was in the 3pm parade and we were on the Train Platform.

Also....you CAN go to other resorts even tho you're not staying there...A walk on the beach at the Poly and watch the fireworks at MK from there is a nice romantic evening. They pipe in the music and there are Hammocks designed for two.

Congrats and have a MAGICAL lifetime together!!!!

We got married in October 2006 on Saturday the 21st and we were in WDW by Sunday the 22nd afternoon!

It was by and large our most amazing WDW trip EVER!

The weather was perfect - not too hot throughout the day, not too chilly in the evenings.

There was no rain at all the entire week that we were there!

We REALLY enjoyed Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party! You should definitely splurge a little to do that - it has the potential to be SO romantic!
The parks are not nearly as crowded as usual, you can stroll around with dealing with the massive crowds of people.

Plus it is easier to have a not as crowded ride on your favorite attraction!

Plus the Food & Wine Festival runs the entire month of October at EPCOT, so you can definitely dedicate an evening to sampling new foods around the world - or you could do the wine card and sample wine around the world!

There are a ton of option that won't bust your budget, and yet will still give a great trip to WDW that surely hold a lot of romantic moments!

Don't forget about all the romantic freebies at WDW!
-Evening boat rides to see the lights of the Magic Kingdom area resorts on the water!
-Evening camp fires at various resorts
-Share a shake or sundae at one of the many ice cream shops
-Have your photos taken with the princesses!
-Take a walk around the grounds at the Polynesian after dark!
-Enjoy the free live music at the Grand Floridian
-Take advantage of live music/entertainment at Port Orleans!
-Spend the evening on the Savannah at Animal Kingdom Lodge around the fire ring.

There are tons of FREE romantic things to do!

THANK YOU for the amazing replies!

We're staying offsite, which is a bit of a stress on us, as we've never stayed offsite before. We're staying at a time share called Orange Lake. It was given to us as a wedding gift, and what a great gift it is!!! So we'll likely rent a car to help us get from point a to point b. I've heard absolutely wonderful things about PO Riverside, and that's definitely in our future, but we're poor graduate students at the moment, so money is of the essence.

We had a ton of fun going to Caribbean Beach last May and watching the fireworks through the trees next to the water. That was a fun "step back from reality." I sort of regret trying to do so much last trip. I actually ended up missing a lot because of it! We only spent a half a day in the countries, and a few rides we just had to throw out all together. I really don't want to make that mistake this time, because it's THE HONEYMOON! I know we need at least a few moments where it's all about us, not the trip.

All of these suggestions are great! Thanks so much!

Some things my DH and I loved to do when we get alone time:

-go to the beach on the Polynesian and watch the fireworks
-walk the trails around Animal Kingdom Lodge and see all the animals
-grab a pint and listen to Off Kilter or the British Invasion
-hold hands and explore World Showcase; there are so many fun things to see just window-shopping
-horseback ride at Fort Wilderness
-There's a checkers board on Mainstreet USA on a table in front of the shops, which is a nice way to relax and take it all in
-grab a drink (or meal) at the SciFi Dinner

First off, congratulations on your upcoming wedding! If you make any TS reservations, be sure to mention this. Get your "Just Married" button and some unplanned romantic surprises just might come your way!

I think it's romantic to stay in the parks after closing... let the crowds disperse and take in all the atmosphere while you walk out at your own pace.

The F&W Fest is a must in October (although, I'm not sure how romantic that is). :confused3

The deluxe resorts have nice lounges to enjoy and drink/appetizer, places to sit and people watch (like the BW resort (rocking chairs), Wilderness Lodge (near the firepit)), the beaches at GF and the Poly for the fireworks and Electrical Parade. Boat rides between the parks and resorts can be very romantic at night, especially in October when the crowds are lighter.

Just take your time and enjoy where you are at and each other. Again, congrats!!
