Suggestions for easier ADRs?

We added a day to our trip with DDP, so we wanted to book our TS meal. We will be at MK without park hopping. We already booked The Wave for our meal, but I am not sure this is a good choice for our family (we're not too fancy, food wise, or fussy...2 young boys). Our trip is in August. Do you have suggestions for a few restaurants in MK or easy to get to from there for a TS meal (prefer early dinner) that may be easy to get? Will it be easy enough for me to just ask what is available for a time frame in the MK area on the day I want? i don't want to wate their time I was thinking about Trail's End in FW. Thanks for your help!

We love the Plaza Restaurant at the Magic Kingdom. A lot of people don't think you get your "bang for your buck" swith the dining, but we enjoy it as a change of pace from all the "heavy" meals we eat at all the other places. They basically have salads, sandwiches (burgers, reubens, grilled chicken, club sandwiches) with german potato salad or french fries. They have terrific shakes and delightful sundaes. The portions are huge, but it is very good.

I agree with KatMark. We ate at the Plaza the Friday night of Memorial Weekend, literally walked up and got right in. The food was really good, and our table by the window had the most gorgeous view of the castle. I agree, its a nice change of pace, the interior is very charming and the portions are very generous.

I have learned that sometimes the most bang for my DDP buck isn't the best option for our touring plan and appetite (too many heavy meals actually gets old sometimes)! I just figure it all evens out. I would do the Plaza again in a minute.

Tony's is another one inside the MK that is not too hard to get into (it doesn't have characters and it serves both lunch and dinner). We like that one too, and it is a good deal on the DDP since its pricey.

another chiming in for the Plaza! The food is great as is the service, plus it's really pretty - and air conditioned!

Thanks! I think we'll try that...I don't think I have ever been there and I've been 20+ times in my life. Is a reservation necessary? We like to be flexible, so hopefully we adjust well to the ADR's on the DDP...likely our first and last time using it.

I would get an ADR. When we first started going there, you didn't need them. But with the dining plan and free dining, the last two times we have been there they have turned people away. We usually go at 11:30 for lunch or 4:30 for dinner and it is not too crowded at those times.

Yes, I agree get an ADR for the Plaza to be safe. Although we lucked out to walk right in, I think that might have been because it was pouring rain much of that afternoon and lots of people had cleared out of the MK, the whole park wasn't that busy.

Other times during our recent trip, I noticed a sign saying there was no table service available at the MK that day at all. This sign is right by town hall and I have seen it a lot lately during my trips.
