hi. so are so many great snacks/foods in DLR to try, but we are a family of on a budget. (2adults,2pre-teens)

to save$$ we buy groceries and eat breakfast in the room. We also bring water and healthy snacks into the park (granola bars, veggies, crackers, apple slices).

For lunches, I was thinking we can do "snacking"lunches. Where we by snacks or food to share. none of us eat a lot, and we rather snack thru the day. that's why I take healthy snacks in backpack.

I was thinking the following 4 lunches . anything else you suggest?

-Get an order of pretzels bits, churro balls, popcone and 1chilli from cozy cone. then get two plates of RIBS from floes. and have us taste and share.

-Can we go into café orleons and share food? we would like to share 1 order of monte cristo, pomme frites and beignets.

- get 2 corn dogs from Wagon. then take them into plaza inn and get 2orders of chicken. share these.

-get 6 Bengal bbq skewers (2 asparagus,4meat)and then get 2 dolewhips to share after.

You're making me hungry! :rotfl2:

We have plans to do something similar at Cafe Orleans. There are 5 of us; 2 adults and 3 teenagers. At Cafe Orleans we'll share one or two Monte Cristos and two Pomme Frittes. :thumbsup2 You won't have an issue sharing.

I don't think your Bengal BBQ will provide enough real food as they aren't that big; I'd think 2 per person and then 2 Dole Whips between the four of you. My girls eat like birds and can easily eat two skewers each. They are SO good.

At Plaza Inn we can easily share 3 meals for 5 and are stuffed. We could probably do two really. I like that plan with the corn dogs. You'll have plenty of food.

We haven't had Flo's ribs but I can tell you the chicken chili verde cozy cone is delicious. My 12 y/o at the time DS and I shared and it was perfect. The chili cone is the same size.

Redd Rockett's Pizza Port has a whole pizza for $32.99 which appears in line with your other meals price wise. My only suggestion would be to ask them to cook the pizza an extra 5 minutes. They seem a little underdone otherwise.

Rancho del Zocalo is another good option. Their portions are also large. The platters all include rice and beans too. For the five of us we get two platters and one of the salads. For two, I bet two of the tacos platters would work.

If you change your mind on breakfast, The River Belle Terrace is our all-time favorite. *The Steamboat* comes with three pancakes, scrambled eggs, and a choice of bacon or sausage for only $8.49. I would think the four of you could share two.

We love to share the Monte Cristo! We find beignets at the same time a bit much given the fried/powder sugar combo already on the Monte Cristo can cause a sugar crash on its own. We do Mickey Beignets from the Mint Julep bar as a snack during the day, great for sharing! Dole Whips are great for 2 people each. We found 3 people could split a chicken meal at Plaza Inn & 2 could split a pasta meal- I think they have the biggest meals at DL! Also if the crew gets an ice cream craving at some point- Dibs make for easy on the go sharing & Tollhouse cookies are quite big (though messy to break apart).

And agree on those skewers, 2 each for light eaters! They are SO small!!

You can split CS meals with no extra cost but check the menu at TS for split plate charges, those can bite.

As a family of sometimes splitters, we always look around before ordering to get an idea of how big things are. Favorite money saving tip: bring water bottles!

The Cozy Cone chili would be hard to share due to the way the bread cone starts to fall apart. You can order sides a la carte at Flo's, so 2 plates of ribs plus extra sides might be enough. And 2 people can easily share an order of fried chicken at Plaza Inn with food left on the plate. I'd probably wait to get the corn dogs until after that meal, if anyone is still hungry. At Bengal BBQ, my normal lunch is a meat skewer and share a veggie. And you might want to try the tiger tail they sell there, it's grilled bread. Yes, you can share at Cafe Orleans. I think most people struggle to finish a second piece of monte cristo. If you want more food, maybe also split a salad. Also, check out the baked potatoes at Harbour Galley, you could order one of each to share.

I agree about Plaza inn they have a huge fried chicken dinner that's easily shared. Another idea is to get hot dogs with chips at the Coca Cola Corner on Main Street. It's an inexpensive meal.

I agree that 6 skewers from Bengal BBQ wouldn't be enough for 4 people. If you have been snacking before, you could end up each getting 1 meat and 1 veggie or 1 meet and the Tiger Tale.

Lunch menus are usually cheaper than dinner in the parks, so we like to eat a big lunch then just snack for dinner.

Also the Monte Cristo at Café Orleans is much cheaper than the same sandwich at Blue Bayou. That extra ambience at Blue Bayou comes with a hefty price tag.

We have split up the skewers from Bengal BBQ, and it made a great lunch! You just have to purchase more skewers and get stuff to go with it. We purchased a couple of the veggie skewers, and then several of the other types beef/chicken, and pulled all of the meat and veggies off the skewers and put this on a plate in the center of the table. We also purchased some Hummus and other items (maybe pinapple spears?) from the fruit stand in Adventureland. We had a very memorable lunch that day by finding a secluded table in Aladdin's Oasis. It was great! Even saw Aladdin and Jasmin! The key is to split up all of those skewers so that you have a variety and you get to try the different ones!

This is good advice.

On your Flo's/cozy cone day you will end up waiting in several lines and have a ton of food! Waiting for corn dogs and also Plaza Inn - also a time suck and tons of food! My idea of snacking lunch may be lighter than some here - only the Bengal bbq plan seems like a light but protein packed lunch to me. Cafe Orleans plan seems like a good amt of food but each item is fried so it may feel more like you still had a heavy lunch.

DH and I often share and/or have a snack lunch.
BBQ- We each get a Banyan Beef skewer and a veggie skewer. That is plenty for us! Sometimes we get a Tiger Tail there also.

Cafe Orleans- we get a big bowl of chicken gumbo (So good and so filling!) and an order of fries. We share both. Sometimes we share beignets too.

Whitewater Snacks- we will share a nachos or a chicken sandwich. If you ask, they will cut the sandwich in half in the back for you.

And on some days we get a waffle cone and call it lunch! (This is because we normally don't get dessert after a meal. Too much food all at once. So we decided if we actually want dessert, that may as well be our meal!

We don't like to walk around feeling absolutely stuffed. It is no fun going on rides like that. So we have found that most things we can share and we realized that is plenty of food.
