suggestions for character autographs

can any of you give me an idea as to what we can have signed from the characters? i know anything...but i'm looking for something "different". we've done the t-shirts, last time, but was wondering what others have done, besides the pillow cases/t-shirts? anything creative, that you'd like to share? we leave in a month, so i'm trying to figure out what can be done. thanx in advance all your input!!

I'm bringing a Disney Princess poster that I hope to have signed by all the princesses for my daughter. After the cruise I am going to have it framed and hang it in her room. I haven't seen anyone mention posters so I am hoping it will be OK. Its rolled up in a cardboard container so it shouldn't be difficult for guest services to handle. I am still trying to decide what to take for my son. I am sort of leaning toward a t-shirt, but I would certainly welcome some creative ideas.

I did that. It turned out very nicely.

How about the front of a plain scrapbook that you can then dedicate to just the pics of the cruise?

Or...you could do a basic swatch of fabric (19" square) that you can then bring home and sew to another same size square and make a pillow out of.

Or...you could bring a "build a bear" size tshirt for signatures to then put on a Mickey mouse (or beark or whatever).

I did this. It is priceless. Make sure to mark top for the direction you want the picture to go (vertical or horizontal). Also, there is a back and front to the mat. Make sure you mark that too. On one of my mats they autographed it on the back. It's o.k. but if you look closely you can see it's the back.
I tried to get a gold mat for the 50th but couldn't find one. If you can find a gold one I thought that would be nice and significant for the 50th.

We bought a story book that contained most of the various Disney stories and had the characters autograph pages of their stories. Now when my DD's read the book they get to see the autographs.

SuJo...your storybook idea sounds great! did you specify that each character sign on his/her story? like did you include a note referring to that? or you just gave the book & marker and they did it that way?

What a fun thread! I love the storybook idea - was it one of those big Disney books? You turned it into guest services? Or did you have the characters sign them in person?

I also think the matte would be priceless! What a great excuse to take lots of pictures to fill them up.

This COULD just be a rumor; but a friend of mine told me that those characters aren't really the characters at all! Just people in costumes and that their autographs are actually worthless! While I pray this isn't true..... if it is; this plagiarism must stop!

No, that's just an ugly rumor. Sometimes they take breaks from being movie stars and princesses and heroes and go on vacation, where, of course, they sign autographs for their adoring fans. When I was on the ship, I actually saw many of the characters, and even had pictures taken with some, so I can prove it. I've also seen them at DL and DCA, even talked with Aladdin, Jasmine, and a few others in Goofy's Kitchen, (where they were quite confused about modern society, BTW) so I know they are real. Stop spreading that madness around!

We handed the book to the Character on the page we wanted them to sign so we found the story and picked the page. They just fell in love with the book and were showing the other characters their story. It was a pretty thick book but not tall so more squareish.

Posters can be signed by the characters (I have a couple myself)

You can have the characters sign in a photo album and then put the picture of you or your kids with the character on the same page as the autograph.

I don't know if WDW still sells them, but there used to be a stuffed Pluto that was covered in a flat material that was easy for the characters to sign. You may have seen similar things for graduations.

If you purchase pictures in Shutters of the characters (with or without you) you could get them autographed.

The most unique thing I have every "seen" signed was tiles. A couple was redoing a room in their house and decided to tile it with Disney Characters. They had the characters sign an unglazed tile and then were going to put glaze or varnish over it. I wish I could see what it turned out like.

There are always the standard autograph books, t-shirts (can't be signed if it is being work at the time.), hats, etc. The only things that can't be signed are things like alcahol and cigarette merchandise or parafanalia, pornographic items, and money.

No matter what you are getting signed make sure you bring a pen or sharpee with you.

These are all great ideas. I love the idea of the photomat. I have seen wedding pictures done with that idea and never thought of putting a picture in there with all the characters signatures. Thanks for the idea.

What about those make it yourself plates? The kind that kids craw a picture and then you send it off and they laminate the drawing inside the plate.

If you are into scrapbooking, Creative Memories has a 7X7 Disney Scrapbook. I think I will get one and have it signed by everyone and put our cruise pictures in it. Wait a minute....I think that is more for me than my daughter. LOL Guess I will have to get something else for her!!
