Suggestions for Calculating Dining

I am trying to calculate what dining is if we do tables in wonderland versus a dining plan. We already have TIW, but I think Dining Plan will still be cheaper this trip. Or we can pick and choose what we use

Does anyone know a good way for me to calculate this? The prices posted on the sticky in this forum include tax. That part is just confusing me a bit... how should I figure this. Doesn't need to be exact, but would like it to be close.

For example, on March 30th we are eating at the Biergarten for lunch. 6 adults, 2 children. That is probably one the lowest dining though--others are Chef Mickey's, Ohanna's, Akerhus etc.

TIA! :goodvibes

The WDW tax rate is 6.5% in most cases. So take the listed price (w/tax) and divide by 1.065 to get the pre-tax price of the meal.

I guess I'd figure out the cost of the meal using the TiW and then compare that to the "cost" of using the DDP. I generally estimate that a TS credit is "worth" about $37.50 (with tax).

Let's say the Biergarten costs $21.99 for adults at lunch...the cost with the TiW would be approximately $23 (including tax and tip).
Base Cost: $22
Discount (20%): $4.40
Tax (6.5%): $1.14
Tip (18% of pre-discount total): $4
Total: $23

So in this case, it's more "economical" to use the TiW and save the DDP credit for a more expensive meal.

I generally use the following breakdown for the "value" of a credit.
Cost of the DDP: $58.66 (let's round to $59.00)
Assumed Average QS Cost: $17.50 (including tax)
Assumed Average Snack Cost: $4 (including tax)
"Value" of TS Credit: $37.50 (including tax)

I'm not sure what you mean when you say "we can pick and choose what we use". If you purchase the DDP it need to be forall nights for all people in the room. So if you have the DDP you will have credits that you use or loose. You can not just choose it when you feel like it.
We have had both and used the DDP for our main TS meal and used the TiW if we had any appetizers or non included items including beer and wine at dinner.
Good Luck
