Suggestions for bladder disease?

I would get a medical card to get in " front" or handicapped lines for rides like Haunted mansion, teacups etc that dont have fast passes!! Hope it helps!!

As posted this does not exist. What you are thinking of is a GAC, Guest Assistance Card and it does not allow you to skip lines. It helpd alert CMs to invisible disability. It is not designed to shorten wait times. Un fact it can make some wait times longer.

OP. my guess is you mean uretha stretching?

anyway, tell your mom to drink plenty of cranberry juice. and ditto on the poise pads or depends.

The procedure is an actual bladder stretching. Her bladder is abnormally small...half the size of an average adult's bladder. They will insert a solution into her bladder beyond capacity and let it sit for ten minutes. Then they will insert more and let it sit for a longer period of time. And somehow this actually stretches it out and keeps it that way (hopefully!).

Hello,

I know this post is rather old now, but I was just wondering if any of you know whether you can go on rides/rollercoasters if you have an Interstim?

Thanks!

High-tech restroom pictures too. Some of them are just so well themed! The My Disney Experience app for your smartphone can help you locate the nearest bathroom.

This is a question for your doctor.

This is a question for your doctor.
I was only asking as I saw someone mention on this thread they have an Interstim & have been to Disney. I'm due to have these operations over the next couple of months, and had planned to visit WDW at some stage (I'm from the UK) if I respond well to this treatment as a sort of 'treat' after spending the past two & a half years housebound due to the severity of my bladder disability - I'm in my early twenties and have been suffering from my bladder disability since I was 19. I haven't seen my urologist for a few months as I've been on the operation waiting list so I haven't had the opportunity to ask yet but just thought people on this thread might know. Apologies if this is a silly question.

:welcome:

Yes, the Interstim was mentioned by a previous poster, though she didn't indicate if there were any issues with rides. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like that poster has been on the boards for quite a while but maybe someone else has experience to share.

Good luck with your surgery and I hope you get that trip to WDW soon!

Poise has a new product for bladder support control. It comes in three sizes. You have to figure out what's your proper size. This product is more to help with leakage, but it may help here if used with other products in your case.

This is nformation from the Interstim website in their page about Living With Interstim:

Medical procedures and equipment
It is a good idea to carry your InterStim identification card with you at all times and show it to medical staff before you undergo tests or treatments. Most procedures and equipment will not affect or be affected by your neurostimulator. But caution is needed with some equipment, such as magnetic resonance imaging, monitors and diathermy equipment.

Antitheft devices
You should also let airport security staff know about your device to avoid possible problems with airport screening systems. Airport screening systems or theft detectors in public department stores or banks can cause the neurostimulator to turn off or on. If this happens, don’t worry. It does not change your stimulation settings. Simply use your patient programmer to switch your neurostimulator back on again. If you know you will need to pass through one of these devices, it’s a good idea to switch off the neurostimulator before going through and turn it back on afterwards.

and this is a link to their website:
http://www.medtronic.eu/your-health/constipation/living-with-the-device/index.htm
There is a 'Contact Us' link on the bottom of the page where you could contact Medtronic, the maker of the device, directly to ask.

Based on the information on the Interstim website, I would assume that the biggest concerns would be magnetic fields and Magic bands.
Here is information about Magnetic fields at WDW:

Common equipment, such as electric motors and radios, that produce electric and magnetic fields are utilized extensively throughout the world and also within our Resorts. These fields are generally no greater than you would experience in any urban environment or may be exposed to through common household appliances such as vacuum cleaners and hair dryers.
If you—or any member of your party—has questions regarding the above, you may speak with a Guest Relations Cast Member for details.

And the link where the information is located:

There is a lot more info about Radio Frequency Technology at WDW here:
https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/faq/my-disney-experience/frequency-technology/

This information may be helpful when you contact Medtronic (although they are a manufacturer of many similar type devices and probably have already been asked the same questions previously).
