We are flying in the Wednesday morning before we board on Thursday and will have basically an entire day and evening to entertain ourselves. We are staying at the Hyatt MCO - have any of you stayed there and do you have any recs for this family which includes a 5 yo and 7 yo? thanks!

Would the kids like something like the pirate dinner theatre? There are tons of things on I-Drive to do, or you could just head to one of the parks for the day.

FWIW, there's *nothing* around the airport. You *will* have to take some form of transportation.

Everything i would suggest would mean severely altering your plans.

Like, don't stay at MCO, rent a car from the airport and return to to the port the following morning, stay closer to whatever you want to doing Wednesday evening. A one day car rental is likely cheaper than your DCL transfers and you can almost assuredly find a hotel cheaper.

Yes, this. The Hyatt MCO is about 30 minutes from anything of interest in Central FL.

If it were me, I'd probably stay at one of the Disney Springs hotels, there should be plenty to explore at DS. Or, a hotel near Universal, and hang out at CityWalk.

There are the following options...you could either rent a car or take a cab. I would seriously rent a car though.

1. The FL Mall, which has the Crayola Experience , Build a Bear and a Disney Store along with major department stores, food court and other restaraunts. This is a few miles down the road on the 528 and is fairly close.
2. International Drive, which is a bit further on 528 and will have a variety of entertainment, restaraunts and shops.
3. Gatorland which is a little bit further out, but still not that bad.
4. Disney Springs (of course) just a bit further down the road from I Drive.

Just a few ideas that are not too far from the Hyatt MCO and where you could pick up a rental car. Renting could also end up being less expensive than those Disney transfers.

Also would add IDrive 360 to the list of PPs suggestions with the Orlando Eye/Madame Tussauds/Sea Life Aquarium its roughly 9 miles from the airport

We are staying for two nights in Orlando before our cruise. We are staying at a Disney Springs-area hotel. We will visit a water park, Disney Springs, and have dinner at the Hoop-De-Doo Revue.

Old Towne, Fun Spot. Wonder House. You can find a ton of neat stuff to do on International Drive!

Do you happen to belong to Costco? If you do you can rent a car pretty cheap, their best deals are when renting from airport vendors. We had one day In LA last year, we got a car for less than $40 bucks total for the day. I would go to Disney Springs or City Walk so much to see in one location.
