Well I guess first of all I need help finding out who this was....

I've posted about my entire family getting sick on our trip. We were all on day 3 of our sickness when my 7 year old started to BEG me for some chicken soup. DH staggered out of bed and went to the Pepper Market to try and find some, no luck. So then he tried to take a bus to DTD in hopes that he could find some, but he got very sick and almost passed out on the bus. He ended up going to McDonalds (for food none of us could eat) and taking a cab back to CSR. SO DS7 is almost crying at this point and begging Mommy to please find him some soup. (He thought it would make him feel better.) So, I called Maya Grill. There was a man working at the podium. He gave me his name, but I can't remember it. ANYWAY, their soup of the night was chicken soup, BUT they "are a full service only restaurant, and do not do take-out". Well, I almost started to cry when he told me that. We were far too sick to have dinner in a restaurant. I explained that my little boy had not eaten in three days and asked if he knew anywhere I could get soup take-out. This kind man said to come to the podium and he would help me. Well it took me about an hour to stagger over there! By that time there were two women at the podium who didn't seem to want to help me at all. Again I teared-up and asked for the man that had been there before. One of the women went to get him for me. Shortly after that he came out with a bag with two bowls of the best chicken soup on the planet!!!!! He wouldn't even let me pay for it. He said that he would take care of it for me. DS7 ate almost an entire bowl, and said it was the best soup ever.

So, I would really like to do something to thank this nice man for helping us. This happened on Monday, June 19 at Maya Grill at CSR.

My questions for you are...
1) How do I find out who he was?
2) What should I do to thank him?

I would call the hotel directly and let them know about the situation. They may be able to give you his contact information, or they may give you a way to send him a thank you card/gift etc.

I really like to hear about CMs going out of the way for guests. I've had both good and bad service at WDW, but I prefer to remember the good times. Reading your story just lets me know that the service industry in this country is not completely gone.

Write a letter to:

WDW Guest Communications
PO Box 10,000
Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830-1000

Basically repeat what you said in the post. Give the date and as close as possible to the time.

First of all, everything coming in does get read. The people in that department will be able to search out and find who was involved. The person will be identified and the letter will flow down through management channels to the supervisor of that person.

In addition many compliment letters will find their way directly to the Executive Vice President for Operations and will be published (identifying the cast member by full name) in a newsletter, Main Street Diary, which comes out weekly along with comments on the letter by the EVP.

i would call the restaurant and ask for the nice man that helped you last week... he might even answer again... then i'd contact feralpeg (a fellow disboarder)(www.peggyssweetsandmore.com) for a gift basket...

i hope your family is all better and were able to eke some good times out of your vacation!
