Suggestions for a special group dinner?

I’m trying to think of some ideas for DH’s and my 30 birthdays. Mine is December 30 (Thursday) and his is January 3 (Monday), so I’d been thinking about doing a special dinner out with our friends to celebrate. I’m thinking we’d pick a date between our birthdays and have one joint celebration, but that would probably have to be Saturday January 1, and I’m not sure how hard it would be to do a special event that night. It’d have to be easier than December 31st at least. We’d probably have a party of about 10 people. We’d love to pay for the entire meal for everybody, but depending on how our finances look, we may not be able to. In that case, we would just let our friends know of our plans and that we’d love for them to join us, but would understand if they couldn’t. I’ve listed the ideas that I’ve had so far, but wanted to get a few more suggestions before calling group dining to see what they could suggest.
  • Victoria & Albert’s Chef’s Table
  • Narcoossee’s – They have a small private room don’t they? Does anybody know how this changes the cost or if it would be possible to do separate checks.
  • California Grill – either in the main dining area or in one of the private rooms, but same questions as for Narcoossee’s.
  • Private dining, like the attic at the Boardwalk or some other small area – this would obviously be only if we could spring for the whole thing ;)
Any other ideas?

How about Artist's Point? Nice atmosphere and good food.

Also, I was thinking about Boma (even though I haven't been there yet) since it's a very reasonably priced buffet and should have something there for everyone. I'm not sure whether they have a private or semi-private dining area though.

I'm not entirely certain, but I didn't think V&A's Chef's Table could accommodate that many people...

I think trying for a place like Boma might be a good bet. Since you're thinking of a place like V & A's Chef Table, why not take the money you'd spend there, and treat your party of 8 or 10 to dinnner? The price would be about the same.

I would have to vote for the California Grill. Dined here for the first time on my last trip and it was FANTASTIC!!!! The food & service were wonderful and the views amazing. I think you'll be thrilled here! ::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

Another vote for CG and request the back room which I believe is called the wine room? It is MUCH quieter than the main dining room and when the fireworks start you could all just get up and go to the windows to watch the show.

I know it can be pricey, but maybe you could call ahead and do some sort of pre-set meal of sorts (if you pay yourselves) where the guests have a limited number of choices as to control the cost to some extent.

Just a thought. :D
