Suggestions for a rental house in Orlando?

Hi everyone,

We are going to Orlando for about 9 days prior to cruising on the Dream in August this summer. I would like to rent a 4+ bedroom house with a private pool and spa. I have spent lots of time on vrbo yesterday and today - but am not really sure which area is best, and wondered if you had any ideas/opinions about it..

The last few times we spent 10 days pre cruise in the Poly - MK view and then another time we spent 4 days post cruise at Floridays...


We will most likely not be spending much time at the parks... we def. want to try one of the water parks, do discovery cove and possibly the Harry Potter thing.... if we go to any of the main Disney parks it will be MK...

Thoughts?

I know you mentioned pool AND spa. I just wanted to chime in with one we have stayed at. WE LOVED IT. We did this for 4 nights prior to our cruise last year, and will definitely do it again.

GREAT home, great owners, great groundskeepers. WALMART and other stores are about a 2 minute drive away.

We've had really good experiences with Award Vacation Homes (http://www.awardpoolhomes.com). We rented a house in the Orange Tree neighbourhood and really enjoyed it. Had a private pool and spa, shopping close-by, games room, video games, etc. About 10-15 minutes from Disney gates.

We are staying at The Castle in the Sky in just over a week. We have never stayed at this particular house before, but the pictures look amazing and the owner has been fabulous and very accommodating.

We have stayed at one that is on VRBO and it is great. Stayed there several times. its VRBO # is 8005. Has 4 bedrooms, pool, I think everything you were asking for, the area is sunset lakes.

We had an opportunity to stay in one of their porperties a few years ago and it was awesome. We had a 6 bedroom that had every creature comfort one could wish for, including doors from the master suite onto the pool deck.

We too have rented a 4BR house with private pool, etc. for our stay in March. It is in Davenport, so still very convenient for all we plan to do for the 6 days in Orlando prior to our cruise.

Be wary when booking tho...cannot stress enough to purchase INSURANCE!! One evening I did a random search on our rental address on google. The search brought up hundreds of real estate listings. Imagine our shock and horror when discovering this. We contacted the owner who assured us that due to the economy, right now, they are sure they will never get their asking price and refuse to lower their selling price so basically there are just waiting out thier contract with the selling agent and then intend to remove it from the market. We are still very uneasy, as I am sure you can understand. We have our final payment due within a couple of weeks, and will go thru with our booking, but fingers crossed that the property wont sell prior to our vacation. We have insurance which will cover such a scenario, but trying to find another property this close to our travel dates will be nearly impossible.
