My dd will be 8 in Jan. and I want to get her a digital camera. I looked at the Crayola one, but it had bad reviews. I don't want anything too kiddyish, as she needs to keep this for maybe 3 years. We bought her one at limited too this summer and it fell apart, so I don't want anymore junk. Any ideas???

Last year, we bought our then 8 and 5 year old a Kodak Easy Share. They share it and we've had a great experience with it. We did change out the wrist strap and put on a Wii wrist strap to make sure it stays secure.

If you think your child can handle it, I would suggest a "real" digital camera.

Another vote here for the Kodak Easy Share. My DD10 got one last year for Christmas, it's PINK!

I just bought a V-tech one for DD4 for Christmas. I agree with the PPs... a children's digital camera probably isn't going to cut it for an 8 year-old. I'd look at reviews for basic point-and-shoot digital cameras. I've heard LOTS of people recommend the Kodak Easy Share (as the PPs did) for children.

I have to qualify my recommendation...we mostly love the Kodak Easy Share that DD has, but it has no viewfinder. That's the only thing negative about it.

dd9 is asking for one, too. I did a search, and the Disney Tinkerbell camera was in the top 10 on whatever site I was on. It was sold out in several places, but I found it for $39.99 at disneyshopping.com. The software that comes with it includes Disney clip art they can add to their pics. It was originally $49.99.
