Suggestions for 4star hotel?

If you look at the satellite map for the Anaheim Hilton, which is right next to the convention center, you can see that you can walk to the Timon lot (cross the street in front of convention center, entrance to the left) and ride the Lion King tram to the front of the park.

It is about .25/mile walk to tram stop.

they are newly refurbished rooms..

cons: not a lot of disney theme in lobby.

We stayed at the Anaheim Hilton in July. They were in the process of completely redoing the lobby at that time- heavy construction! We had a newly refurbished room and it was fabulous. Very large, clean, modern, excellent mattresse and linens. Flat screen tv, small fridge. I do know it was an upgraded room, but not a suite. I would call the Anaheim Hilton and ask about the finishing of their lobby area makeover. We have stayed there in the past with our kids and they had very nice travel toiletry bags, etc for the kids. We have walked to DL/DCA from there before. And- in July it was $75 less a night than even Paradise Pier!

I also love the Disneyland Hotel, but that is usually a one-night splurge on occasion, unless DH is there on business and then we tag along. For our longer stays at DLR with our kids, we typically stay at the Doubletree on Harbor and use the ART bus system to get to and from the parks. I love having the free cooked breakfast and the fridge in the room for snacks- not to mention that the kids get their own bed and I get my own room since it's a suite!

I would recommend the Marriott and Sheraton Park. If you are used to walking, then you could walk to the resort - I see many families that do. I also recommend Sheraton Anaheim, and they have their own shuttle to the park, so you would not have to take the ART. In addition to being a nice hotel they have those heavenly beds that are super comfy.

If you liked the Wilderness Lodge, then you would love the Grand. They were designed by the same architect and basically along the same lines. We have stayed at both and would say the major difference is that the Grand is more on the lodge side, where the WL is more Indian feeling. They both are beautiful and have a great lobby. I would say the rooms at the Grand are on the small side, but they make up for that with the patio.

I too would recommend the Sheraton Park down Harbour. It just had a bunch of renovations done. And with it being right be side the Convention Centre it is really themed for business travel. The pool area is beautiful and huge. The rooms are very nicely decorated and big. And if you ask for a Disneyview you can watch the fireworks from your balcony. The walk took us 15 minutes with a 4 and 7 year old (who ran most of the way I wish I had that energy lol).

I think that the Grand is much nicer. The rooms are still small (just like the Lodge) but the beds and bedding are much nicer, there are bath robes in every room, and, in my brief experience, the service was of a higher quality.
Add on to that the convenience of getting to the parks, and it's high and above the Lodge, imo.
