suggestion on surprising hubby for 40th bday?

Our family will be at disney the first week of December at the same time my husband will be celebrating his 40th bday. How would be a nice way to ask for a room to see the firworks from our room which is the BC. I have made ressie with a local travel agent in my area. Also when should I ask if they can have a surprise waiting for my husband when we can check into the room? Our flight will arrive at 8:20am Sunday morning. Any help would be appreicated!

How about a nice steak dinner at the Yachtsman Steakhouse? Tell them when you make the reservation that it is your husband's birthday. And make sure you hit Guest Relations at AK, Epcot and Disney Studios and City Hall at MK to pick up a birthday button for him. Will he wear the birthday cake hat that has candles that light up? Maybe you could get a cake delivered to your room.

As for being able to see the fireworks from the BC, aren' t the trees in the way to see Epcot, unless you are staying at the BCV? You'd need a top floor, but you still might have trees in the way.

It would be hard to have a surprise waiting in the room for him upon check in. You may be assigned a room but if someone else comes along and wants that room you would be assigned another room and someone else would get your surprise.

You could arrange for something in your room after you are checked in and actually in that room. Don't expect Disney to do anything special. If you want something for your husband arrange and pay for it yourself.

I was told that when you make your reservation, you should tell them that you will be celebrating a birthday, and they WILL do something special. I was told that they will either have something waiting in the room, or at the desk at check in. Also, when you make any other reservations, let them know it is his birthday, they will note it, and if that place does anything special, they will. No matter where you go, let them know, I am sure they will try to make it special to him even if it is just singing Happy Birthday to him.
I know all of this because we are taking my son for his 7th B-Day.

Goofyest mom, I hope you don't get your hopes up too high over what you have been told. Many many people are celebrating and yes sometimes they do something special for you at WDW. But to avoid disapointment plan on paying and arranging something yourself.

I would hate for you to depend on some magic and then it doesn't happen.

Yes, several times. We mentioned we were celebrating milestone birthdays and we didn't get anything. Many other people on the DIS will tell you the same thing. If they do something for you great. But don't count on it.

Even if someone just sings Happy Birthday to him, it will be special to him. On another board I looked at,( I don't remember which one) was telling all about what they do. Also, when we made a reservation, they said that they were going to make note of it, asked his name and how old he was going to be. I don't expect any thing big like giving him something ao anything like that, and he doesn't expect anything at all, he will be suprised if someone just said Happy Birthday, thinking of how they knew it was his B-Day.
