I just received my summer swap back - and everything is wonderful. But some of the items came in a little bent up or falling apart, so I suggest that everything be bagged or wrapped before sending it. Even the big items, such as borders and photo frames/mats can get beat up a bit in the return. And things like paper piecing or shaker boxes can (not necessarily will) fall apart during transit. We all work so hard making our items that I hate to see them not arrive in the same condition we send them out.

When I do a swap I always include a sturdy piece of cardboard that is folded in half-so it is like the cover of a book. I make it the same size as my envie.
I put each item in a baggie and it gets taped to the cardboard. Because it is in a baggie the tape won't harm it-and you don't have to worry about anything shifting around.
Also be careful with embellishements/eyelets because they gouge your other items.
By taping things down you can avoid them touching other items in the envie.
I would put the lumpy things inside sandwiched between the cardboard, the flat stuff gets to go on the outside of the cardboard....LOL-hope that makes sense!!!
Ohhh and I put it all in a big baggie just to keep it safe!

I didn't do it this time -
and I usually do
the toppers were so plain and not embellished that I thought they will be fine.
I sorry :(

All my new items came in one piece. They were wrapped in a piece of cardboard. I cannot remember if I sent the cardboard in my original envelope or not. If not, thanks Spinning!

My concern is I have some items that I don't know exactly who made them. I have to find that original post :).

I agree! If anyone sent me a piece of card board I put their name on it and returned it to them in their swap items.

Also somethings I learned:
Everyone needs to put their DIS name and their real names on the out side of the envelopes especially the return ones. I know many peoples real names but some I didn't and it got confussing as we all know! I ended up skipping one person!
Also Everyone needs to send a piece of card board and filled out return envelope too.
It would be great if we all used the same size or even used those free boxes from the post office. That way shipping would be more standard. Plus protect the stuff a little better.
