Perhaps on one of the segments when the team is discussing the DISBoards, it would be nice to hear some of the statistics about the average (and extreme) user. Things like how many active posters, posts per day, views, etc.

I'm also curious which regular member (not a mod) has the largest number of posts and how many that is. I know its not me. Just wondering how many folks are in the 5-digit, or more, range.

BTW, I understand some of this info might be competitively sensitive and have no problem with that.

I've always been quite curious about those statistics, too. I'm more of a reader and rarely post. Sometimes I really want to comment on something, but find that I would prefer to continue reading rather than taking the time to post a reply. I love visiting the Disboards, and could stay on here for hours, but reality won't allow me that luxury. I've often wondered how it is possible for some members to have posts in the 5-digit range. I have been reading these boards for over 10 years, yet I only signed up a few years ago. Thanks for bringing up this topic OKW Lover.

I too don't post a lot but have been reading for a long, long time. I would love to know who has been around a long time. I realize people may have signed up with new ids and the early people may not log in anymore but it would be interesting.

Of course part of that is because i signed up a long time ago. I see OKW Lover has also been signed up a long time.

That's another good stat - who's been on the longest. I've seen people with dates in the late 90's.

If I remember correctly, Late 90's is the earliest you will see. Because of some huge crashes lots of earlier people lost their post counts and had to start over in 1999.

And some of us were lurkers prior to registering a user name. :rolleyes1

The DIS started in 1997 - 15 years this year! :woohoo:

My guess is that Pete has been on the longest. :p

As for the largest number of posts. I think it's a moot point these days because there are posting wars, last word games, smiley games, where all people do is post one word, and their post count skyrockets without really adding content. Before these games there were some serious posters with high post counts. (before and after the crash)

You got me curious- so I had to post, just to see how long I have been around. Been here a bunch of years, just dont post much.
But I agree with Mary Jo- that a post count can be inflated. Not sure if they can divy out posts in Community and such boards?

Some pretty good points here, but I've still got an itch.

How about a stratification of number of posts. i.e., 75% of the DIS members have less than 200 posts. Or, 1% of DIS members have more than 10,000 posts. Something like that. Or maybe its based on average posts/day.

Then again, maybe that info isn't readily available and we are better off just letting Alex get the boards moved to a new server. :surfweb:

Hi Jeff,

Mary Jo's post is correct in this information. If you have further questions, you might consider PMing Corey, but recognize that this information may not be available.

I think stats would be interesting, too, and would love to hear them if they want to share them...of course, there are probably 1000 reasons why they might not wish to share them. :)

I'm guessing Dan Murphy or Robo for highest post count under a single name, but I dunno.

SO many people have multiple names that it would be hard (if not impossible) to figure out who has the highest post count.

Plus, so many people play those stupid games to increase a post count.

Me, myself, I never look at or care about a post count. A high one doesn't mean the person talking has said anything worth hearing and low one doesn't mean the person has nothing to say.

It's never what is on the L side of the screen that counts, IMO. It's the post. I actually read the posts without looking at who posted them most of the time. Only if I find the post to be exceedingly moronic, amusing or interesting do I look at who said it.

Mary Jo this articulates my thoughts too. Many other forums have disabled post counts as with the count volume seem to matter more than the quality.

I agree with Kaligal. I think Dan Murphy might have the most. I'm sure Alex could get the stats and give us an idea on posters.

"Back in the day" I think nativetexan (Katholyn) used to have the most "meaningful" posts. She responded to a lot of people. I don't think she posts anymore.
