We're heading down to DL for a quick trip in early October. We were planning to splurge at stay at GCH but I didn't schedule fast enough and now they're booked :sad1:. There are so many options for other places to stay, and I could really use some input from those that have experience with the area.

Here are some of the things that are important to us:

~ Proximetry to park. We have 3 year old twins and a 7 year old son in a wheelchair, so being close to the park is a must. Having a shuttle would be another option and we're open to that if the shuttle runs fairly frequently.

~ Nice beds and bedding. Fluffy pillows, new fluffy comforters. No icky 70's bedspreads.

~ Spacious rooms. All 5 of us will be in the same room, so it can't be too cramped

~ A good pool area if possible.

Last time we were there we stayed at PP. We *loved* the park view, but the rooms and bedding were a little shabby for the price. However if either PP or DLH would meet our needs (maybe they've been upgraded since we were there 3 years ago?) please let me know.

Thanks for any help you can provide :).

The Dreams tower in the DLH is all renovated, but it may be booked as well.

I have had good luck in both the Marriott and Hilton near the convention center. Both are on ART as they may be a little long of a walk to the parks. Hilton had larger rooms and was recently rennovated.

Actually the best beds IMO, are at Hojo's and they have a kids' suite. The decor is outdated, but Hojo's is a DIS boards and other Disney boards favorite.

I like the beds at Homewood Suites which is down Harbor Blvd. ART picks up right in front of the hotel. It's newly renovated, the decor is beautiful and the GM there is tops. If your stay isn't satisfactory, Joe Lineaker will make sure it is. They have free breakfast which may work well having 3 small kids. This is our hotel of choice. Marriott Suites is also on the same property, no free breakfast though.

Marriott Residence Inn is almost next door, they have free breakfast also and it's a little better than Homewood's. The decor here is a tad outdated, but we really like this hotel. The pool is small enough that we can take 2 preschoolers in the pool at the same time. They have a complementary light dinner Tues-Thurs and free ice cream on Thursday nights. I think Tuesday nights is free face painting. The dinner works well for us so that after a long day at Disney, dinner is waiting, just throw our plates away and go up to bed; we don't have to wait in a restaurant while ordering, eating and then the bill - too much time for preschoolers. It's all kid friendly food, i.e. dessert is something such as Krispie Treats and pudding. Several restaurants are on property such as Joe's Crab Shack and Red Robin. We like the proximity to Oggi's, we like their take out which includes an extra large child's milk.

Recently renovated is also Hyatt, they have their own shuttle. Although the new decor is beautiful, I'm not a fan of this particular hotel, but it may serve your needs having their own shuttle.

I like Portofino too. This has a kids' suite with bunk beds and a sofa bed too. This is served by ART.

Last time we went to Disneyland we stayed at the Best Western Park Place Inn and Suites. I actually selected it based on google maps. I wanted to closest hotel to walk to the Disneyland turnstiles. This trip was at least 4 years ago so I can't attest to the condition of rooms, pillows, and beds but the rate at the time was fantastic and we loved just being able to walk back to swim or nap anytime we liked.

In order to get a room in the Dream Tower, do you have to specify this when making the reservation? Or is this something you try to secure when checking in (by checking in early and crossing your fingers there's rooms available)?

HOJO! That is my pick! Why? Cause it’s close, and the Ap rate is good, an they have a ET rate and oh free parking!

Why do you think that? I think the HoJo rooms are lovely - not dated at all.

Disneymomma81 and Funball, LOL are you two serious?!?! :scared1:
Orange and green decor??? With oak??? The 80's were great but..........now the updated rooms at other hotels have neutral tones with cherry finished furniture, granite, etc.

The beds are the comfiest at Hojo's though.
