Day 5
Blizzard Beach
As the weather channel is forecasting the best day of the weekend as today we decide to seize the opportunity and go to a water park. As TL, our favourite, is closed we head over to BB after a light breakfast in the villa. As it is a little early and the clouds are still ominously hovering in the sky we decide to try our hand at Winter Summerland Golf first. We spend a happy half an hour going round the course which has a Santa and his elves theme. Jorge emerges victorious as usual and Rebecca cheats like mad.
The sun eventually breaks through and we go into BB, stopping to purchase our refillable cup on the way. Once inside it is quiet and we have our pick of the beds in the Ski Patrol kids area. The theory is that we can laze around on our beds while still keeping an eye on Rebecca while she plays in the water. This works for about 15 minutes when she asks to go on the lazy river. After the initial shock of the cold water we spend a while floating around before taking a turn on the Toboggan Racers and the Double Dipper before heading up on the chair lift to do Teamboat Springs. The weather is glorious now and the park still quiet. It seems that most people havent cottoned on to the good weather yet. With no queues we heave ourselves back up the stairs to do Teamboat again there are 139 of them by the way Rebecca counted. While we do this Jorge musters his courage and does the ultimate wedgie ride: Summit Plummit. We just make it down to watch his unflattering appearance at the bottom of the ride.
Back at our loungers we eat Hot Dogs for lunch and watch Rebecca play in the pools, as usual making friends with the first unfortunate child she comes across. I am just getting nicely dry and warm on my lounger when Jorge and Becky begin to pester about going on the lazy river again. Eventually I am badgered into it and really enjoy the ride until we get to the cave/tunnel part and I get a soaking with icy water!
By now its 3pm and weve done everything so its time to go. We make a quick stop at the villa for showers and a nap. With no specific plans for this evening we decide to try the Magic Mining Co. Steakhouse on 192. This looks great fun from outside but in reality is a little dingy inside. While we are waiting to be seated a man makes us pose for a picture, to be duly sold to us later no doubt. I find this more than a little annoying we only want a meal for heavens sake. The billboards outside also advertised a train which I was a little disappointed to find was a model one in the foyer! The food was OK but I had stopped caring by this point. At least we got to enjoy our meal in peace as Rebecca picked at hers and then proceeded to spend all our dollars on the arcade machines! After our meal Rebecca begged us to play golf on their Magic Mining Co. mountain so we collect our clubs and play for the second time today. This course is somewhat run down and I spy some graffiti on the walls, something you rarely see in Orlando. The holes are also quite easy and we all score a lot better than usual. While I do enjoy the odd round of crazy golf, twice in one day is a bit much and by the end I just cant be bothered any more. Rebecca enjoys herself though.
There is a definite chill in the air by the time we head home its a good job we havent come here for a tan! It seems the cold weather predictions for tomorrow are correct. Still, we are planning to go to Florida Mall so it doesnt really matter.
Manage a couple of glasses of wine and a whole episode of ER tonight, things are looking up and we manage to stay up until 11pm before hitting the sack.
