I have been looking at the game (Sudoku) the past week in the paper and I have to say it is harder than I thought it was. The past couple days I have tried it, but not had much luck finishing it. Anyone have any good hints or tips?

I love 'em!

This is my favorite website with hints, helpers, and extra graph paper - plus daily gentle (easy) and moderate puzzles.

process of elimination. I am addicted. I bought a Sudoku for Dummies book. They ahve some hints. I do better by initially working columns, then rows, then blocks for the "obvious" #'s. Then I will look for the section with the most #'s filled in. Funny thing is, I find the "tough" ones easier than the "tricky" ones. :confused3 Tricky is supposed to be one step above "easy".
So any clue on how to pronounce "SUDOKU"? Which vowels are long & which are short?

I picked up a book of them at Target and it had 4-5 pages of instructions/hints/strategies in it. Maybe look for one of those :)

As for pronunciation, I'd heard all long vowels....but not sure...

mickeymo, thanks for the great site :)

mom2boys, I started doing the blocks, but after today I think the columns are easier. The puzzle in my paper today as like either 3 out of 4 stars or 4 out of 5 stars for difficulty. Last night the CBS evening news had a small blurb about Sudoku and I believe they pronouced it Sa-do-ko.

Is this something my 14 year old son would like? I'm always looking for a challenge for him.

I've seen some books at Barnes and Nobles.

That puzzle is "the bomb." I love doing those, as does my DD. She will be getting some sudoku books for Christmas as stocking stuffers.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Sudoku puzzles!!! USAtoday online has one everyday. At first I had to copy them onto paper, but I can do it in the computer now. Highly addictive. LOVE IT!!!
