Suddenly, WDW is cheaper than I'd thought

Still expensive though!

Flight costs are £550 return. Park tickets are around £500 for 14 day park hoppers. Hotel stay for a week in the Aventura is about £1,100. Add a bit more for travel and food and it's not as expensive as I'd thought it was!

[ETA] Still expense, but come on, it's DISNEY! Once in a lifetime style of thing!

Why would you get park tickets for two weeks, but only a week's hotel stay?

For RT flight, that seems really cheap! Make sure that's not a "basic economy" class or something like that.

If you want to save more money, I'd suggest forgoing the park hoppers. I can't imagine they'd really be necessary with a two week stay.

For RT flight, that seems really cheap! Make sure that's not a "basic economy" class or something like that.

If you want to save more money, I'd suggest forgoing the park hoppers. I can't imagine they'd really be necessary with a two week stay.

Thing is, a 14-day ticket costs the same as 7 day tickets - 5 day tickets are like $10 less!

They must be running a deal for UK residents.

A 7 day PH is $788, a 10 day is $867. No option for 14 day. A 5 day is $743.

At least that's what I'm seeing here on the WDW website.

You can and you don't need a VPN to do so.

Yep! I bought the 14 day UK ticket last year. Works absolutely fine, no issues whatsoever. Well, once I got the credit card company to process the purchase. No issues using them at WDW tho. There have been plenty of posts about it.

UK residents have had longer ticket options than US residents for as long as I can remember. They even used to have a 21 day option. That 1 never came back after Covid.

I’m curious, and maybe you have mentioned this before, but why are you staying in a Universal hotel to go to Disney? You only mentioned the Disney tickets in the first post. Are you going to Universal also?

I'm debating it. Obviously Aventura is prime location for not just Universal Resort but also the Citiwalk. I'm just weighing up whether or not I'd bother with Universal, given the cost. As for the hotel itself, it's cheaper than your typical Disney hotel but not so far away to dent in the Disney price.

Keep in mind that you would also have to budget for a ride share to/from WDW if you're not renting a car. If you are renting a car, you have to pay for theme park parking and parking at Aventura.

Honestly I would try to swing for a Disney resort if you're not going to Universal. You can grab the All Stars for around the price of Aventura though those resorts are not as nice as Aventura (IMO).

If you are not going to Universal there are a lot of cheaper/better offsite options that are closer to Disney than staying onsite at Universal. That really doesn’t make a lot of sense. You’re paying a premium to stay onsite at Universal and Universal isn’t particularly close to Disney. You could look at basically all of the Disney Springs area hotels, all of the Good Neighbor hotels, Bonnet Creek, Sheraton Vistana, Marriott World Center and all the Marriott Palms Hotels, etc.

Depending on traffic Uni is a solid 30 minute (or more) drive from WDW.

But there are definite costs involved traveling between the two, especially since the public transport in Orlando may not be as efficient as what you are used to (even those of us who live here wouldn’t call it efficient most of the time). I used to work near Universal and go to Disney after work. I was lucky if the drive took under 45 minutes, and that was with a shift that ended before rush hour. From a convenience and cost standpoint, most people will stay at Universal if only going to Universal and at Disney if only going to Disney. If you are going to both, it’s not such a big deal. Just something to consider . . .

A ride share each way is at least $25. I've seen it higher during park open/close. Usuaully the drive between the two is about 30 minutes but I've had it take longer due to traffic. I'm not sure if I would personally want to deal with that if the main point of my stay was Disney.

IMO you should stay where you want to play. I totally forgot about the Disney Springs area + Good Neighbor hotels that Anna mentioned but that's a good option to look into as well. Just be aware that those hotels have a daily resort fee and also charge for parking if renting a car. But with the Disney Springs hotels you do get early entry (you do NOT get that with Good Neighbor hotels).

UK tickets are very weird compared to US. If you're going for more than a few days, you may as well get the 2 week.
