Sudden Contemporary Availability

I looked several times and you could see the rooms were leaving bit by bit.
Thanks, that makes me feel better. I had looked earlier this morning and it was spotty and then looked about 3 or 4 hours after that and all was gone.

Waitlist fulfillments may have scooped up the remaining inventory.

Yep, makes sense. I will say when our nights suddenly came available for our Thanksgiving week I took a quick look using the Chrome Developer Tools to see how many of each room existed and it was no more than 4 rooms open each night.

I had no idea you could see how many are open. But still when it was first open , it seemed half of Oct, most of Nov and some in Dec. That's still about 50 nights x 2-4 rooms per night?

We are there the end of November for a week. Those days were anywhere from 2 to 4 when I looked. I did not actually look at October because we weren't going. My guess is they either finished one floor / section earlier than expected or decided to delay a floor / section until later.

Do we even know if the refurb has started?

There has been some chatter about items being removed from rooms and one bank of elevators being used for that. post 72 in the BAY LAKE TOWER REFURB DATES talks supplies and a crane.

There is a post on DVCFan's group on Facebook that floors 5-16 are now closed in the South Tower.

***. South Tower
Floors 5 - 16 closed for refurbishment.
Those elevators closed as well.
BUT you can use the walkway to Contemporary.
All rooms will use the other tower elevators.

This may explain the sudden availability of Standard View rooms on Saturday, especially if perhaps the plan to start with was to do floors 1-5 (since there are no standard view rooms on 5-16 in the south tower) and then they instead decided to do 5-16, or maybe they finished 1-4 early?

Somebody in another thread was moved for a 7 night stay in a BLT studio starting Oct. 19. Now I'm wondering about this availability (and our 8 night stay in Nov).

I had taken advantage of the availability opening and booked a standard view studio for the 9-13. We've now changed arrival to the 11th (and will see how that goes) but last week I received a call from DVC that they needed to move that room due to the renovations. Only for the nights of the 11-13th though. Interesting to see they aren't working on the lower rooms. The move has not been done yet but I checked with DVC after calling to cancel the first 2 nights and it is still slated for a move although just over to the CR so that's as good as might be expected and still keeps everyone at the same resort even if not the same building.

I'm curious if the standard views had originally been held back and then when they changed the plan (my assumption) they had moved some lake views to the standard views (since in theory every room under renovation is now a lake view) but this wasn't communicated to whoever released the previously held rooms into inventory.

On a side note -- if they move you and take their time actually setting up the new reservation, what happens to the 7 day advantage for booking LLs?

Interestingly, this just happened for Poly this morning with full avail for Nov-Dec (for studios at least, b/c that's what I've been stalking for). But Poly DVC rooms aren't undergoing a renovation, correct?

It happened to a few weeks ago as well. It also happened to VGF Standard Resort Studio last weekend. My guess with Poly and VGF is that DVC moved a room or two back into inventory that they had pulled for breakage (making it available as a cash reservation).
