I am a type 2 diabetic so I am trying to decide if Dining Plan will work for me.

If you have been able to substitute anything at Table Services Restaurants for desserts please list them out.

There have been very few reports back on TS substitutions. There will always be a sugar-free dessert option, but I know that isn't always the best thing for a diabetic either. TS substitution is not in writing anywhere, so even if someone was allowed a substitution in the past, it does not mean it will be available in the future. I think if you simply ask nicely to swap your dessert credit for an extra veggie, side salad, or cup of soup, most restaurants will probably accommodate you, but you need to be prepared to either choose the sugar-free option or just not use that entitlement.

Also swapping out the $8 dessert for a side valued at $4 might not be great value.

If you think you will prefer appetisers to desserts then you are probably best not to purchase the DDP.

I believe swap changes went into effect on May 31st. For Table Service Entitlements-When available at the restaurant, you can now substitute your dessert for a fruit plate, side salad, or cup of soup. Guests can not substitute appetizers for desserts. I saw a list of participating restaurants online somewhere. But, I think almost all DDP places allow it, esp. if you said your were a diabetic.
We have swapped out for a salad--including tomato/moz (Il Trat) and a fancy one with feta cheese and apples, etc. Many salads at TS are $7-$8. You can also substitute a side (I think) for the dessert at CS.

You are correct in that substitutions started in May (but I believe that was May 2015). However, as stated above, the TS subs were rumored to be a part of the new way to use the DDP, but they were not included in the official DDP pdf from Disney. The QS subs are written in. TS subs are completely up to each restaurant. They choose what, if anything, they will allow, and even that could change on a daily basis depending on what they have on hand.
