Ok so I have been pouring through these posts. The good, the bad and the ugly. I am a Disney veteran and after dozens of trips to the parks feel like a newbie for our trip this May. We are a rope drop family and with Tweens tend to also park hop and use the whole day. Does anyone have experience with the touring plans app and if it is worth the cost? It looks like there are lots of things that should be on Disney's app but more? Last trip to the parks pre fast pass plus the wait times on the official app were way off. Is this still the case? Does touring plans really do better? I am willing to invest the $12 if it actually works!!

I've used TP in the past, but they haven't updated for FP+, it seems. I would recommend researching through EasyWDW instead. Josh has touring plans on his site that have the new system in mind, and people seem to swear by his research. He does the parks a lot, himself, so he gets the scoop first hand. In his forums, you can also post your initial touring plan and get feedback. I plan to do that for my trip in June.

at this point, I would not suggest anyone pay for the app...we have subscribed for years (and before that, bought the Unofficial Guide every year for about 10 years) I'm a serious planner and have used both touring plans & the free easywdw many times.

BUT...the last 6 months, both have been wrong as many times as they were right.

I think two things are happening: both systems do base a lot of their recommendations on "historical" data for these days...but the problem is, the current historical data is based on years of economic depression vacation times...so the crowds were lower than "usual" for the last 5 years or more. Now, the "vacation" economy is turning around, rapidly...but the old data is not predicting the new numbers.

The other issue is the major affect FP+ is having on how to tour/when to tour/what order to tour. With a LOT of experience planning Disney vacations, I completely changed the way we do the rides with the advent of Fastpass +. The touring plans (both places) have not made the necessary adjustments yet...I would guess they are scrambling to figure out the best systems...but then what Disney is doing now is just a "test" so who knows what the best touring plan will be once the whole FP+ system evolves?Must be a bit crazy-making for the guys writing the touring plans! :dance3:

I love the app. It's made it so easy to create our plan of attack for our our trip in April. I put in where and when we're going to be, how many FPs, and it figures everything out. Crowd levels may be hit or miss for a while, but just having the plan is a plus.

The cheats sheets I linked in my previous post do take FP+ into account.

Thank you all for your experience and input! My vacation planning has never been so anxiety provoking!! Maybe this is why they started selling wine in the Magic Kingdom. They knew this was coming and we would need it. Ha
