A friend of mine will be on the western cruise. She is considering taking her family DS 11, DS 9, DD 4 on the submarine voyage. Has anyone been on this? Did you book it through the cruise line or on your own? She also was thinking about the Sea Lion Adventure.
Thanks,
Staci

we did the submarine excursion. booked it through disney. we just felt "safer" booking through disney, since we have 2 little ones, and would hate to have to think about getting our own transportation, getting back on ship on time, etc. less hassle this way.

i was a bit nauseous, towards the end...too "enclosed" for my taste. it was interesting. our DS4 & DS2 enjoyed it. seeing all the fish! but for us adults, they were basically the same fish, and not much else! oh we did see other divers too.

fyi, we had to take a taxi cab from the port to another port in a different part of the town to board the sub...that was pretty interesting seeing the sights...:sunny:

We also took the sub excursion and booked through DCL for the reasons above. I thought I might have a problem with seasickness, but after the ride out to the sub, the sub didn't bother me at all. It was the rocking of the boat when sitting still that was almost a bit much. The rum distributed on the boat ride back helped me forget about some.
It is cramped, but we're glad we did it. And in case you didn't already know, book excursions early!

DH, DS (9) and I did the Atlantis Sub in Cozumel on our 6/5/04 cruise. We booked through Disney for the 'comfort' level. DH and DS just loved it. We got to see some fish and sharks and the water was beautiful. I have to admit that I wasn't too excited about going, but once on board I enjoyed myself. I was worried about getting seasick, since I'd been sick on board the Magic, but the air vents aboard the sub were great and I had no problems. I wouldn't do it again, but am glad we did it once.

We did the sub on our first cruise. Booked thru Disney. It was enjoyable. Our only thought on it was that we took the afternoon dive and we didn't see as well since the Sun was beginning to go down. We felt that the trip would have been better in the morning when the Sunlight would have been stronger and brighter. It was still a good experience.
