Styrofoam coolers

Instead of paying $15 per day for a fridge I'm thinking of a cheap cooler. Does anyone know if the grocery stores around Universal sell those inexpensive styrofoam coolers? They aren't standard stock here in Ontario but maybe Orlando? I will be hiring a towncar from the airport to Universal and will get a grocery store stop.

just about any place would have them but the only place I can think of is Publix or walgreens on Kirkman Dr.
Maybe someone else knows closer places and hope this helps.

We got ours at Publix the last time we were there.
Worked out great.

They should have them at the Walmart or grocery store you stop in. If you are using towncar, they will, mostly likely, stop at the nearby Publix grocery store. Check both the beer AND the bottled water aisles for them....if you don't see them, ask. Be sure to pick up a bag of ice also...in case your room isn't ready and you want to keep something you bought cold. (See Day 1 of my TR...we stopped, got 'perishables' and cooler w/ ice...all explained in TR...click on June 2007 link in sig)

We bought ours from the Walgreens on Universal Blvd/International Drive which is about 2 minutes from the HRH. They don't have the widest choice of foods but they have basics like bottled water, coffee, milk oh and krispy kreme donuts:) . Which incidentally work out around $16-17 a box over here!

Is this store within walking distance from RPR? On google maps it is only 0.9 miles away but is it safe to walk (sidewalks) or is Universal Drive like a major highway?

I think alot of folks on here recommend leaving the cooler next to the ice machines for someone else when they check out, since you likely won't take it back on the airplane. Nice gesture! I think everyone should write "courtesy of DISers" on the coolers when they leave them!

No, I can't see that anyone would bother with the akwardness of hauling a $3 cooler back with them on the plane! Good idea to write "courtesy of DISers" it - I'll have to remember to take a lime green marker with me :thumbsup2
