Well like many posters we have the dining plan and a child in our group. I was wondering, for anyone who has had a child's macaroni and cheese for their child, what is it like?

Is it more like a Kraft mac and cheese or a cheesier type like Stouffer's macaroni and cheese?

Any help would be great. I'm annoyed that their isn't more to choose from for the kids. It seems like there should be more cheeseburgers and sandwiches offered.

It's tough with picky eaters and those with a more advanced palate....

Thanks in advance for any mac and cheese descriptions!!:sad2:

I am not sure how to describe it except to say it is definately NOT like Kraft Mac n Cheese. DD8 loves Kraft and has tried the mac n cheese at WDW several times and doesn't like it at all.

Well that might be good to hear for me, DD4 isn't too nuts about Kraft, she prefers Stauffers, which is frozen, I just heat it up in the microwave.

Anyone else have any more descriptions?????

It also depends on the restaurant. Usually it is Stouffer's like but...

Macaroni and Cheese at the Biergarten - buffet (on right)

Macaroni and Cheese at Raglan Road (kid's meal)

Two totally different things.

Hope this helps. :)

wow thanks for the pics koolaidmoms. Well I'm hoping that the counter service restaurants have the Biergarten type. I would think, if it has a decent or similar taste, that it will go over pretty well with DD4.

Though the mac at Raglan road looks appealing to me!! More of a white cheddar!!!

But really, thanks for the help on the descriptions.

Disney carries stouffer's mac and cheese according to the people at LTT last time I spoke to them!
There are exceptions with a more gourmet mac n cheese but mostly stouffers

As others have said, it is like Stouffers most places. A few - CA Grill and Jiko, off the top of my head, but there are probably others - have their own house-made versions which are quite good. I haven't seen Kraft-type mac & cheese anywhere at Disney, which is nice because none of my 3 will eat Kraft.

Thanks for all the details. I was really hoping it was like stouffers. In 2005, when I was last there, at Liberty Tree Tavern they told me most of the food prepared there was from Stouffers. I was really hoping that they carried the mac and cheese to the disney counter services!!

Sounds like that is the case!! Good news for DD4. I don't mind sharing my "adult" food with her, but I don't want to live on nuggets and mac and cheese for 8 days either. She on the other hand would probably have no problem eating mac and cheese everyday!!

Thanks again to everyone. You've all taken a slice of stress off my mind.

Just a few more days till we go....

If the restaurant is Disney owned, they should all have the same recipe. If it's an operating participant than it would be different (hence the Macaroni and Cheese at Raglan Road ;) )

We just got back 2 weeks ago and all the CS we went to had the Stouffer's mac-n-chees. My cousin's DD loved it. We did go to the Cape May Clambake and their mac-n-cheese was homemade-it was the best I've ever had. Wish I had some right now!! :goodvibes

OMG - I am the same way with the one at Jiko's too. It was to die for.

I found the recipe on allearsnet. and made it at home - it has this fabulous blend of four cheeses I would have never thought of trying, but it is just great.

I am a mac n cheese lovin' adult.
I will say the best I have had at WDW is at Artist Point (WL), where I bought some as a side. :worship: :thumbsup2
Now, whether a kid would like it or not....
Chefs de France has mac n cheese. But can't say I have been overly impressed with it. Theirs was much better probably 3 or so years ago. Not that it is bad. I just have a better recipe at home. (Expensive to make due to the 4 gourmet cheeses in it. So I can see why GOOD mac n cheese is not cheap.)

If you hit Wolfgang Puck Express the Mac n Cheese is a bit more adult that most!

I've only had the adult menu mac and cheese at Chef's, and the Stouffer's type that comes with the meal at Garden Grill and Liberty Tree. I really enjoyed the mac and cheese at Chef's, but it's a large portion (shared it with our oldest son) heavy, and not the same as traditional kids' meal mac and cheese.

But our middle son is a self-proclaimed Disney mac and cheese expert, and is on a quest to try every kind of mac and cheese available at Disney! He deems the kids meal mac and cheese at California Grill the best ever (not just at Disney, but at any restaurant.) He also likes the mac and cheese at 50's Prime Time. The Stouffer's type at Garden Grill, Ohana and Liberty Tree are not his favorites, but he likes them - they are standard and I'm sure would appeal to lots of kids! I can't remember his other reviews off the top of my head - these are the ones that come to mind.

In any event, if anyone wants more info about how and why these mac and cheeses are different, I could ask him for his detailed description!

P.S. He strongly advises against "meaty macaroni," which is not mac and cheese. It's a relatively weak red sauce with meat and way to many onions for his taste!

Well there ya go OP the expert has spoken!!!!!

Can't get any advice better than that!

@Pixarmom
Your son sounds adorable! Too cute!

Good tip here. My DD4 won't eat anything with a lot of onions. Thanks for this, because it was something I was considering to sell her on. You saved me a lot of grumping!!

My older niece had mac and cheese from Fultons and it was delish! Very creamy and rich and smooth, the best part was they topped it with Goldfish Crackers...she gobbled it up!
