Hello Brides - This is not a DIS wedding question but this board is so friendly and helpful I thought I'd ask anyway.

I am doing the ceremony for two very dear friends. Here in FL, a notary can perform wedding ceremonies. They are getting married on the beach at sunset. So far not a problem for what to wear, HOWEVER the bride is wearing a very formal gown with six bridesmaids, all in formal gowns. Usually I wear a tropical type dress and sandals or barefoot, kind of like most of the brides are dressed.

So for this wedding, how should I dress? I think the bride will not want ceremony pix with her all dressed to the nines and me in a casual dress.

As a :bride: what do you think I should wear? Thanks for any input!

ETA: As far as the guys, they are wearing tuxes with tropical accents

what about a white/beige ceremony type robe?

black pants & a white/beige top with a floral accent pin, corsage?

a black pant suit with a top in her wedding colors or blue/green for the ocean?

I'd go for a black or light brown suite...but ask the bride, i'm sure she has it pictured in her mind....

I was thinking a suit -- either with pants or skirt. My aunt is a notary in Florida too and has performed a ceremony. Good idea to ask the bride! True, I have ideas of what I'd like to see my pastor in, if she comes with us.

DEFINATELY ASK THE BRIDE!!! :thumbsup2

By asking her you eliminate worry on your end and you know she is pleased with your choice. If you have any doubts, definately ask her!! She will respect and appreciate you doing so! :sunny:

My neighbor had a similar wedding (DD was flower girl) and the notary wore a pastel suit and hat (pastel with veiling) that complemented the bridesmaid's dresses.

Thanks for the great advice. I am meeting with the Bride/Groom next week to go over some of the ceremony stuff and I'll ask them. I wasn't sure if it would sound like I was expecting to be in all the pic or something if I was asking about what to wear. You've all re-assured me - ASK THE BRIDE.
