so it will cost me way more than its worth to get my dslr fixed. Is there a website that shows you how to repair one? I figure If i toatlly puck it up ill just give it up and buy a new one but I gatta try. Its a sony A230 Dsrl

wow im a idot tonnight! when you try to take a picture its like it locks and gives me a camera error. Im guessing its shutter related. Im pretty sure its a shutter issue

Are you sure you didn't set the camera to "mirror lock-up"? The "mirror lockup" function is probably located somewhere deep in the menus of your dSLR camera. Although, if you did set it to "mirror lockup", you would not be getting a camera error.

Any thoughts on what might have made your camera start to act up and give you an error?

Opening a dSLR camera and trying to fix it is not like, say, opening a desktop computer and trying to repair it. People typically don't open dSLR cameras and mess with the electronics.

Is your camera still under warranty? If so, you can probably send it back to Sony, and they can look into it and repair the problem for you without charge. Even if it is not under warranty, it's still probably a good idea to send it back to Sony and have the professionals there diagnose and fix your camera.

Although not specific to what you're looking for, here's a YouTube video on how to paint your dSLR camera pink: link to YouTube. In the video, the guy takes apart his Nikon dSLR, and the whole thing becomes a mess, he gets electrically shocked by the electronics inside the camera, and he can't quite put the camera back together without sawing off some parts or accidentally tearing some wires.

Again, opening a dSLR camera is really not something that even experienced photographers would even attempt. But, if you have some experience with electronics, hopefully you'll be able to find the problem and fix it. Good luck, and let us know how you do!

Hee hee! I fixed the camera error, I took the front section apart, played with the mirrors and fixed it. Only thing is now I need to go buy a new pin thingy that makes the camera relizie theres a lens on the camera (I kinda bent it..) Now my camera wont auto focus, any ideas what part I need to pull apart to fix that? Im not to afraid of getting a shock. I was a idot once and touched the nice little progy part on our hardwired smoke dector.:rotfl: I cant really use it the way it is cause the shutters staying open to long so everything comes out blury. Any advice will be greatly apprecated!

big difference between shock from smoke detector and that from camera if its from capacitor for flash.

I read many years ago that this can be dangerous, even deadly..??

I have an issue with my Sony A300 (piece on my mounted C-board broke while replacing the LCD screen and needs replaced) that I have decided not to get it fixed because it would cost me half of what it would cost me to get a new one. If you are looking for a particular part, you can call Sony and they can send you a PDF of the inner workings of your camera.

Sony showed me which part and the name of two authorized dealers that would send me the part. I looked into a camera store near my area and they would fix it for me, but until I drive to the store (which is about an hour and a half away), the part price and the price to have it fixed, I am half way to having a new camera. Luckily I can still use my camera, I just can't see my LCD screen (which is where I change all my settings...LOL).

What part did you need for your lcd? mines been blacking out latley, If you slap it with your hand it comes back up (sometimes). We only have one camera dealer around here and hes a real snake.
