For the last 20 years I have never parked at the park. We always stay on site or very close. What is it like to park at Disney. Is it confusing to find the parking? Is one park better than another? I'm going next Tuesday or Wednesday.

I don't think it's confusing, but then I park there often. You might have a different experience. I think you should know that the entrance to the theme-park parking (usually Mickey & Friends parking structure) is on the south-bound lanes of Disneyland Drive. If you are on the northbound lane (Disneyland to your right), you will need to make a u-turn.

Once you get to any Disney parking, the CMs will direct you where to go in your car. Once you get out, follow the people/signs to the escalators that will take you down to the trams. Be sure you remember/write down what level you are on, and what column you are near (level Mickey, column 9G).

There is really good signage at the Disneyland Resort, so you should be able to find your way around easily enough.

Amen to that. It's no fun to wander around the wrong floor of the structure looking for your car. (It's only happened once to us...)

It's happened to me a couple of times... walking around the structure clicking my car alarm looking for it ... not a very prideful moment :p. Twice I've been on the wrong level and walked the stairs to the next. lol

Not to say this will happen to anyone; just 'cause I didn't pay attention. lol

I see that you are in San Diego... if you are driving up from SD use the 5 freeway, exit at Harbor. Turn right off of the off ramp (use the middle lane so you can immediately swing into the left turn pocket to get you onto Ball Rd.)

Drive up Ball, keeping to the left. You will see everybody entering into the twin left turn lanes ( do not nip into cast parking, that is the first left!). Follow the herd, there are signs, keep left so you do not get swept into the DtD parking.

You will enter the M&F structure, and it is all taken care of...

This all sounds trickier than it is... Disney wants you to get into the park so they do the best they can to make it clear!

If you are not a fan of the parking structure you can use the Toy Story lot on Katella... in which case you would exit on Harbor, drive west and turn left on Katella for that lot, it uses buses rather than trams to get you to the park.

Have a fun day!!

If you are coming from San Diego it's very easy. Follow the signs. You will exit onto Katella, Disney way if in the carpool lane, not need to merge to the right from the carpool lanes. You will be directed to make a left on Harbor to the Toy Story lot, which will be the first left as at a stop light.

Umm yes I agree with that. make sure you cirle on the parking ticket they give you where you park, just like mary jo said.. and don’t leave it in your car, take it with you so you can find your car at the end of the day.. I can’t tell you how many times I have seen numerous park guests wondering in confusion in the parking structure because they didn’t circle where they parked and or keep the ticket with them . Also if you take a photo of it in your cell camera that also helps!!!

THE most important piece of advice on this topic. M&F is the 2nd largest parking garage in the United States. It is HUGE.

My dad used to tell a little "joke" when anyone would say, "It's a small world, you know." He'd reply, "but I wouldn't want to paint it." That's how I feel about M&F. It's very well marked, but I wouldn't want to walk it (which I have had to do on a car hunt).

When you pull into the garage, the CM will give you a ticket with all the levels, aisles, and rows on it. When you park your car, mark your ticket accordingly and put it with your cash and other important things. When the end of the day comes, you will be thankful to not have to try to remember what level, aisle, and row you are in.

If you end up parking in any of the other lots, they are not as big and it's not a huge issue (but I would still mark where I parked).

Thank you.

Or better yet, snap a photo of the character/number....not only is this less likely to be lost than the paper parking ticket, lol....but it's a great way to start that's days photos (ok, I'm a scrapbooker so I want to know when a new day starts, also handy if you do trip reports).

This is really good advice. Mark your ticket/take a pic. Gotta love digi cameras. :) DD - love your dad's "joke" :teeth:

the M&F parking structure is great and gives you quick and easy access to the parks. We were a little bummed in September though, cause I had just finished the half and was super sore, and they tried to get us to park on the roof. (It was supposed to be pretty warm that day). There were tons of empty spaces in the levels below. We drove all the way back down and had to tell them that we had film and food that would go bad if our car was left in the heat. After a little bit, the attendant gave us a pass to park on the bottom level :)
