Me! :thumbsup2

Okay, I've been staring at maps of DLR for weeks now and for the life of me, I can NOT figure out where the main gate(s) is/are... I'm trying to figure out how far our hotel is from the gate.

My dh and I went for our honeymoon 11 years ago but its changed so much since then. I have no clue!

TIA!

So what is the name of the place? The main gate is on Harbor across the street from the BWPPI.

We're staying at Best Western Raffles. I know its 1/2 a mile "from Disneyland" but I'm really curious to see what that really means in regards to the gate (but I can't find it!... and am feeling a little bit foolish asking).

Seeing it on a map would be a HUGE help. Not sure if anyone can help me there.

Hopefully this helps :)

You guys are WONDERFUL! That is exactly what I was looking for. I'm actually glad I asked because I had thought it was on the other side.

Thanks so much! Its amazing how difficult that is to find on Disney's website. Maybe I was just looking at the wrong maps. :confused3

There is a ton of info in the stickys at the top of the board. Maps, photo's,guides and food for thought.

Here is a link to the trip advisor reviews as well:

My neighbor stayed there a few months ago and said she wouldn't stay there again. She said the walk was just too far to comfortably do, and they ended up taking the city bus.

I stayed at the Clarion two years ago, which is actually a teensy bit closer to the parks than BW Raffles, and it was TOO far to walk in my opinion. It was fine on the first day (long, but fine), but for a three day trip, there was no way. I'll never stay that far away again and still expect to walk. It's more than a mile from the gates (used mapmyrun.com), so if you plan on doing that at least twice a day, four times if you take a break, it's going to really add up! I am going in March and am booked at BW Park Place Inn, which is literally across from the gates.

Don't worry, I'm not expecting to walk (although many people say its possible, just not recommended). We plan to take the Toy Story lot shuttle which is apparently next door and free. I was aware of how far it was before I booked it but it was a lot cheaper than the closer ones and got great reviews.

Jack, I've been in and out of those stickies so many times over the past few months that I've lost count :). Like I said in my post, it seemed like such a stupid question so I looked for a very long time before finally breaking down and asking. I haven't been since 99 (and I was 19 and clueless then, well, more clueless) so I'm not familiar with the park or the surrounding area. I checked it again late last night and went into the ONE link I hadn't checked yet called Anaheim Resort Walking Map. I've never heard of the area being called "Anaheim Resort" before so I didn't bother checking that one. Naturally, that is the one that shows the pedestrian entrance on the east side. Gr!

I've considered looking into changing hotels but it might be cutting it too close now. We'll see. I don't think hotels charge for cancellations, at least not this far in advance so it might be worth it.

Thanks everyone!

We liked Raffles the first few years, particularly the price tag! We usually took ART in the morning, then paid for a $7 or $8 cab back at the end of the night when we didn't feel like waiting for the bus. Wish we'd known about the TS tram at the time, but if you don't feel like waiting the cab fare was very reasonable IMHO.

It is not cutting it too close at all! You aren't going for a month, and this is when the best deals are to be had. Most hotels have a 48 hour cancellation fee--meaning they will charge you for the first night if you don't cancel within that window. Call the BWRaffles to check on the policy, but it typically isn't that far out from your arrival date.

Thanks Lisa! I did check and you're right, no cancellation fee. I looked into a few other hotels today closer to the park, and I couldn't find anything within the same price range and with the same good ratings. Those ones were all booked up. Hojo's did have room but it seems to be hit and miss with many around here so I'm hesitant.

Its okay. I'm really okay with where we are staying. Its not ridiculously far, only 1/2 mile or so and there is always the Toy Story shuttle next door or ART. The hotel did get great reviews and being a little further from Disney, should be nice and quiet.

I'm sure it will be a great time!
