stupid question alert - post in villa

I have a really stupid question that I hope someone will be able to answer.
We are staying in a villa and I was wondering if I order something to be delivered to the Villa do the postmen over there deliver it through your door or is it something to do with the mailboxes that line the streets??
Also if we are out when it gets delivered where do you collect from??

Yes they put the mail in the mailbox.

If you are not in you go to a depot to pick up like you do here - we ordered some things for delivery last time we stayed in a villa in Davenport.

I know we ended up going to a fedex and ups depot - one was a long way away and in quite a poor area.

Not sure if you can arrange re delivery rather than going to the depot?

The US Postal system generally do not deliver to STR homes -especially if they are on community that has the block mailboxes as the owners need a key to open it and most don't have one .Companies like fedex will deliver to the door step and leave it there or put a card in the door.If you have rented from an owner direct rather than a company ask if their management company will accept deliveries for you.

Thank you I thought it was maybe not the best idea as I have no idea how to open the mailboxes!!
