We went to AK for half of a day last summer. (A tropical storm moved in during the afternoon, so it wasn't a full day.) Anyways, I somehow completely missed seeing The Tree of Life! I know the thing is supposed to be the huge icon of the park, so how did I miss it? We went to all four lands and managed to see everything we wanted to, including DeVine. Anyone care to explain how I can see DeVine in the bushes, but manage to miss the giant tree?!?

Perhaps you didn't look up? :rotfl2:

You probably did "see" the Tree of Life, but didn't realize what it was.

Next time, look for directions to "It's Tough to be a Bug", when you arrive at the show, that is the Tree of Life.

Unlike the MK castle, SE at Epcot, and the Sorcerer hat at the studios, the TOL doesn't attract your visual focus the same way. If you were at AK, you saw the TOL, you just didn't know it.:earsboy:

Remember that great huge tree at the end of the pathway, after you get past the entry part of Animal Kingdom where it's all shady and there are animal enclosures, then you suddenly come out into the sun again, and when you get to the end of the pathway you have to go right to Dinoland/Asia or left to Camp Minnie-Mickey? That great huge tree is the Tree of Life.

If you weren't thinking about it you may have seen it (honestly, you can't NOT see it) but didn't realize it was the Tree of Life. It's quite realistic looking (except, of course, for all the great huge animals carved all over it ;) ).

If you look at your park photos you might have several pictures of the Tree, without knowing you caught it when you were photographing other things. It's pretty danged big!

I'm sure you saw it, but wasn't really paying attention. It does blend in to the decor. But - It's right there in the middle of the park!!

Did you not see Its Tough to be a Bug, that's inside the tree!

I guess I was so focused on getting to Expedition Everest & then fitting in as much as possible before the rain hit, that I paid no attention at all. Oddly enough (not!), this was the day that I enjoyed the least. Probably b/c I didn't take time to slow down.
