I have stayed at Universal many times in the past. I have never stayed or even been to the portofono (spelled wrong). I am thinking of staying there this summer for a few days with my family of four. Is it worth the extra money or should I get a larger room at another resort? Also is the distance a factor? I always liked being able to walk from the other resorts. thanks for looking.

The PBH is our favorite hotel at Universal. The deluxe rooms are large and the hotel is great. We walk in the morning and will sometimes take the boat back to the resort(if the boat is there). The HRH is about the half way mark of your walk.I think all three of the hotels offer something for everyone.Have a great trip:thumbsup2:cool1::cool1::cool1:

If you walk through the back way, it isn't long at all. You have to go by the lagoon and then out the road to the Hard Rock Parking Lot. Walk through the parking lot and you are pretty much at Universal.

Is there a map that shows the locations of the three hotels in relation to the two parks? We are booked at PBH in July. We have stayed at RPR and really enjoyed it, and the walks to the parks were easy and convenient.

This might be close...

Could anyone point this out on a map? I would much prefer to walk then take the boat. (Just a personal preference.)

Here you go. I did this a while ago. At the top of the picture you can see the PBH dock and the line starts on the PBH walkway.

LOL, we tried this without the map and proceeded to get totally lost in the HRH parking lot. Ended up walking into the hotel, out the back door to the path that goes to the parks.

One of my favorite ways to the parks from PBH was to use the pedabikes or whatever they are called. No set rate, only what you feel like tipping the "driver". For someone like me with bad knees I have to avoid excess walking, and this helped. I think I gave him $10, a bit pricey compared to the free shuttle but it was fun.

There is a service road that runs beside the HRH parking lot -- the shuttle buses use it. If you just follow that road, it takes you right to the parks.

Does this take you to City walk, or right to the park entrance?

You'll be at the entrance to Universal Studios. If you're going to IOA, you'll have to pass in front of Hard Rock Cafe and NBA Restaurant. Technically, you'll also be in Citywalk, but the shops and other restaurants are across the bridge, that's over the waterway that the PBH and HRH water taxis use.
