Stupid names for a child

Here's another weird name that I found odd but weird. In the 80's there was a country singer named Juice Newton and I didn't know that people called their kids Juice and Juice Newton was the first celebrity I saw with that name. Who would name somebody Juice? I mean juice is a drink and why people want to name their kids after foods is silly

Her real name was Judith.

I have a cousin whose grandfather was an old country doctor in the mountains of West Virginia. He would assist with births and when the family didn't have any money to pay him, he'd say it was OK, they could name the baby after him. So there are a lot of babies in that area that have some combination of his first name and/or last name as some part of their names.

I got called into the principal's office so he could yell at me for calling a student, "Love" in one of my orchestra classes. I asked what I should call her and he told me to call her by her name. He was yelling loud enough for the secretary and a student in the office to hear. The secretary came in and told him they could hear him in the office. The student who heard was in fact the student named Love.

I must have taught in the boonies (metro Denver area) because as I said, I had more than 1 Wade in my classes in over 3 decades.

My Uncle Buck rode with Buffalo Bill. That was his real name. His brother Boots also rode with Buffalo Bill. That was his real name as well.

Letters and numbers for names are a bit different, but they are still someone's name.
My grandma's name was Lovey Mae, so it has been around for a while. I thought it was just a very old fashioned name.
Most people just called her "Love".

Are you sure that those were the names they were born with? We have a son named "Tim Timm". When he was born, he had a different last name (I was married to someone else). Then I got divorced, and remarried to my current husband-bad coincidence. Had another child with the "new" last name. At some point he changed his last name legally because he wanted to be recognized as Matt's brother, named Timm. We pointed out the obvious problem with his name, and he said it wasn't important.
For a while I worked in a Maternity ward. The strangest first name we encountered was "Mister". The parents said that they wanted their son to be treated with formality and respect.

Here's another unusual name that I didn't know existed until I saw it? Toni Braxton's first son was named Denim and I thought it was weird because denim is a type of clothing and I never knew Denim was also a name as well. Another weird naming trend is why they make male names for female names? Like on The Waltons there was actress Michael Learned and that was the first time I saw Michael also used for girls then there was Princess Michael of Monaco and an actress named Michael Michelle as well. They also did this to the name Tracy and the name Carson and I thought it was weird. But I still can't get over these weird spellings of names like Khris for Chris but I won't be surprised if as I mentioned before we will see Jake and Jeremy spelled J'ake and J'eremy in the coming future

On a zoom call today, the moderator was calling on each person and got to a person named Aliss. So the moderator said "Alice can you tell us about yourself" Aliss said "my name is Elyse" I would've never guessed that in a zillion years.

I understand there are some traditional family names, but, come on, pick something a little more enthusiastic

Also, please think of how that person will carry that name for life in most cases. Think of them as an adult, a working professional, etc. While some names are cute as a baby, they don't translate well after toddler hood.

Reminds me of a joke. Guy walks into a job interview. The boss says this resume is extensive.

Where did you get your education?
Yale.
Well you're hired, what's you're name again?
Yohn Yohnson.

When I was in high school, there was a local high school football player with this name, his parents said the same thing.

I worked with a guy whose son was named Robbie Roberts. Every time he mentioned his son, I thought to myself "why did you name him that?".

I knew an African-American man named Mister. I was a teenager, so it was a loooooong time ago. Once, one of us asked him why his name was Mister, and he said his father lived in Mississippi and never got that honor from the white people he knew. They either called him by his first name, or more frequently, 'Boy' even after he was grown. Calling his son Mister after he moved up north was his way of making sure some respect was given that he'd never had.

I knew a Crystal Rains, and a Harold Butt who went by Harry, so his name was Harry Butt (seriously). I once had a patient named Abcde (pronounced ab-suh-Dee)

I had a neighbor named Bambi. Her real name was Roberta Jean but everyone called her BobbyJean. I guess when they were kids, her brother could not pronounce Bobby Jean and it came out sounding like Bambi so she has been Bambi ever since.

The name I always thought was weird was Wolf and the first time I heard of Wolf was because of CNN's Wolf Blitzer and I thought it was weird that boys are named Wolf and I know Wolfgang is a name because Mozart's name was Wolfgang too. But I have never known why boys are named after animals like Falcon and Fox and Wolf fits in this group well. Another naming trend is that boys are using hero names like Thor and Loki and I wonder if people named their sons Hawkeye after the MASH character too?

I think a lot of unique names follow popular cultlure: after Game of Thrones we saw a lot of Kalessi, avengers: Thor, Loki, Hawkeye etc.

I just can't get on board with dumb spellings: U'neek (Unique), D'von3 (Devontre), Ashliegh (Ashley) etc.

Someone we know just had a baby boy they named Kepta. I never heard of that name before.

I work at a children’s hospital and have heard some really weird names over the years. 3 that stand out are:
1. A little boy named Ovaries - it was pronounced O-var-i-ous
2. A boy named ****head - pronounced Sha-theed
3. A girl named ******* with 2 dots over the O - it was pronounced Ash-o-lee
